I recently replaced my Cruisair system with a MarineAire. On the Cruisair, I'd run the HU dehumidify mode while we're away for the week.

On the MarinAire, it has the same mode but it's not automatic, you have to set the humidity, between 40%-80%.

Any suggestions?

I find in Southern Ontario (pretty humid and hot in summer) 65% is about right. Any less and the boat is an icebox. In really hot humid weather I sometimes set it to 70%.

Thanks for the quick replies. I just spent 10 days on board and tried to pay attention to the percentage.

@Creekwood you're confirming my thoughts.. humid and 90s here today.

I set it at 70% when we left a few hours ago. I had it set at 65% but it had kicked on before I got off (and I kept the air at 68°), so bumped it up a bit.

How do you like it so far? Do you find it quieter than the CruiseAir?

So far, so good. A bit quieter, can barely tell when the compressor kicks on. Cools extremely well and pulls the humidity out, so I'm glad I went with the 14k unit.

The only concern I have, is on our way home yesterday, a 40 mile run, I stopped to fire up the gen then the A/C. The I heard a rapid clicking sound - which turned out to be the fan motor. I shut it down and gave the unit a nice "tap" once back in the slip and I had it turned on. The sound instantly stopped, but then came back faintly last night. I'll give them a call in the AM to get their thoughts.

PITA to remove it to swap the fan out, but worst things have happened. I need to swap out the A/C hose anyway, so not a huge deal. I'm just glad the cabin was cool for our trip!

I had a similar noise from mine from playing around with the shroud to get the angles right when installing. I can’t recall what I had to bend straight, but when I did it it was dead quiet again. give them a call. I didn’t need to because I was able to slightly bend something. It may have been where the fan motor is mounted needed to be pushed in or out. I am sure you will figure it out.

Did you get the fan clearance issue sorted out?

So far, so good. I had the fan already secured to the transition box but was able to move it around some, pulled it a bit off the unit, while I changed out the A/C water lines. We didn't take the boat out last weekend - but it was silent!

Very glad it was an easy fix, thanks for the advice! Super happy with the unit so far!

One of my units is the 14k..... extremely quiet in the aft now where the return is. That in it self is worth the investment. We have guests this weekend so will see if the cooling is better then the original unit.
My only criticism is the thermostat control.... it needs a square hole. WTF? Why couldn’t they just put a little more effort in and make a flush back for mounting?

AMEN! PITA...but I'm just glad it covered up the holes from the Cruisair control...

I had them lying on the shelf for 4 years trying to figure out what to do with the Cruise Air Vertical cutout, and this thing. Too fat to just screw it to the cabinet and I didn't want to turn it 90 degrees. Finally took breath, cut a hole (on the other side of the stateroom by the light switches, and I am happy. yeah, bezels will need some adjustment, but all in all......
