Marine Max Crab Island getaway in Destin

For those that might be interested I got this in my email today from the Pensacola Marine Max:

Saturday May 26, 2007 (9:00a.m. to 4:00p.m.) -- Crab Island Rendezvous

9:00 a.m. Meet in Inter Coastal Waterway between Shoreline Launch Ramp (Gulf Breeze) and Bob Sikes Bridge (Pensacola Beach Bridge.) Destination will be Crab Island in Destin, Florida lead by “Rendezvous Leader†Daniel Deaibes and Chuck Dixon. Trip will take approx. 1 ½ to 2 hours of run time from Pensacola to Destin and back.

4:00 p.m. Depart from Crab Island in Destin, Florida on course to Pensacola. You may continue to have fun in the sun or join us on the way back through the ICW to Pensacola.

I made the trip last year in my 2006, 200 SEL. It was a great time while we were there. The water was pretty rough on the day we went, so the trip down and back was a little less enjoyable than we would have liked. Also, anyone making the trip in a boat as small as mine, should plan on fueling up before you make the return trip. My tank holds 37 gal. and I used EVERY DROP. I had put in at Big Lagoon State Park, and almost didn't make it back. I spent the last 1/4 mile trying to figure out how I was gonna complete the trip using two paddles. Don't know if we'll make it this year or not, but I'd highly recomend the trip.
