We have owned our 1995 330 Sundancer for 5 years. Its a great boat for us, I love it and this Spring/Summer I did $5,000 worth of maintenance, updates (new dash panels, switches, nav lights). I take very good care of it.I have a dock neighbor who has a 2001 Formula 41 PC that is literally the most immaculate, clean and updated boat in Minnesota/Wisconsin I bet. It is just him and his wife (no kids, no pets), they never entertain people on it. He put new Aquatraction flooring in it two years ago ($4,000), replaced the new AC last year ($5,000) and both cockpit and cabin fridges/freezers ($5600), he had custom St. Croix dinghy Davits installed a few years ago ($8,000) the boat gets professionally washed once a week, it has 500 hours on it.....you get the picture. he told me they are gonna get a houseboat in 4-5 years and I thought I would buy it then maybe. well he called me last week and said they are making moves and want to sell now. He would sell it to me for $90k. A great price considering all the other 41 PC's in this area are 1997 models and are selling for $85-$100k. I never thought I would get another boat besides Sea Ray but his boat is almost brand new and the lines are great. Anyone have any experiences with this boat? I will probably be able to sell our 330 for $2,000 less than what we paid for it.

They are really nice boats. I've been out on one with 450 Cummins and it was impressive. Another friend has one also with Cummins 450s. Some have Yanmars but the Cummins are preferred. Priveat sale at 90k is a fair deal for both parties..

Echoing hottoddie, make sure she’s diesel powered. There’s one 2 boats down from me, and she’s definitely more spacious than the 330DA. And, she’s diesel powered. Huge advantage in these boats, and not even sure if any gassers exist?

The 41pc is an awesome boat and a wave crusher. Based on the price you shared with those updates it’s a good number for a gasser and a steal for a diesel. Maybe not as plush as a Sea Ray but but built like a brick ***house. The fact that it’s local and you have intimate details of its ownership is worth a ton as well. The 41pc was on our short list for sure. Exciting times, good luck.

It comes with 502 Mercs with 500 hours on it.....where I boat (in MN) i prefer gas over diesels and how we use the boat gas is perfect.

Wasn't even aware they were available with gassers. That has a "major" effect on resale value. Fuel consumption at cruise will be off the charts. A sea trial is a must to make sure you are satisfied with performance. Hope it doesn't have a Kohler generator.

Every other one around here is gas. Most boats that size here are gas. What’s wrong with a Kohler? I have one now and it runs flawlessly...literally never had one problem with us. Our yacht club beach where we hangout has shore power for over 100 boats. We rarely use the genny

Nice boat. Bro-in-law had a 37 PC and we spent lots of time on it. Interior was a little cramped compared to a 37 Sea Ray. It will be interesting to hear if the boat you're interested in has diesels. We have a Kohler, too. No issues with it.

They’re very nice boats. Yes, they made plenty of them with gas, as well as Volvo, Yanmar and Cummins diesels.

Toddie, the 41PC has 6” less beam than your 390 and has less beam and less LOA than my 400. They’re also relatively light.

I love Formulas. I’ve logged many hours on a variety of models and would happily own one. In several categories Formula quality can exceed SeaRay’s. I also think they’re THE MOST over-rated brand on the water. People get so excited about flash. Imron paint lasts longer and sparkles more than gelcoat. Fancy stitching on the upholstery looks great, but it’s on top of very little foam.

I’ve stood at docks listening to Formula owners say that they choose their boat because they wanted better quality “than a production boat.” At any given time, we were in view of a dozen Formulas... I’ve known two Formulas that were bought by the factory for quality issues, and a third that should’ve been.

I had friends with a Cummins-powered 41 and they loved it, and aside from uncomfortable seating, so did I. It has great layout IMO, both topside and below. They sold it a few years ago in bristol condition for not much more than what you’re paying, so I don’t think $90k is a steal, but based on condition and features it may be worth it.

Im well aware of the Sea Ray vs Formula debate....I guarantee this is the cleanest boat in the state and I would say even the country. Everyone makes fun of this guys OCD with how he maintains and cleans his boat.....thats why i wanna buy it! ill post pics soon...

I look forward to seeing them! I'd also strongly suggest you put fuel metering high on your project list. It will help you learn the running habits of the boat much sooner.

I can see if you spend most of your time on the yacht club beaches that gas in this size would make sense. However after owning both gas and diesel in this size I would hands down buy diesel over gas for this size even on the St. Croix. We have owned a gas 380 sundancer and a diesel 40 on the river in the past few years. We slip at AMYC I think that's right next to your marina. Let me know if we can help

I am at Windmill. And we stay in between Prescott and Stillwater. We have little kids so they don’t care to travel that far..as long as we can go fast for 10 min and then they wanna swim at the beach. I’m well aware what I am buying. There is only one diesel boat in Windmill..and he brought it up from Alabama.

I met someone on the St. Croix a few years ago that went from Sea Ray to a Formula. Unsure what size but the color was grey. We talked because he used to have a WE like mine and loved it. He was unhappy with his DA after he sold the WE and jumped into a Formula. Beautiful cabin and layout. Good luck and maybe we'll see you this Summer!

Congrats....nice boat. We have friends a few slips down who have a Formula 40 we spend a lot of time on. He has the Volvo diesels with pod drives. The thing flies! His cruise is way above my top speed!

Wife and I are dreaming of a 37 in a few years....

I had a formula 280SS for several years (trailered it) was a great day boat with the ability to do an overnite if needed. Formulas are well built and it sounds like the boat you are purchasing is just what you want. The Merc 502's are good motors, yes the gassers will burn lots of fuel, just like the gassers on my Searay. What HP are the motors?
