- Twin Horizon 357 Inboards (repowered in 2017)
I'm looking at a 2001 310 Sundancer that was advertised as having 185 hours on the twin inboard engines, but in reviewing the details I discovered that the engines are 357 Horizons.
Never having heard of a 357, I did some searching to discover that they are re-manufactured engines. I had some pretty bad luck with a rebuilt engine I bought for a boat a while back, but it was rebuilt by a local mechanic/machinist shop.
From everything I've been able to find on the 357' Horizons, it appears that they are re-manufactured by Mercury Marine and built to similar specs to those of the original 350's.
Are there any concerns or issues that I should be aware of with these engines? Would it be better to find a boat with the original 350's, even it they had more hours on them?
Any feedback would be appreciated
