Hi everyone,

I use my 240 SD in a lake. Every year I always hit something and ding up my SS Bravo props which are very expensive to resurface. I'm thinking of investing in a prop saver and maybe with a skeg saver. Is anyone here using anything they can recommend?
Thank you

No snark intended but I recommend reducing the instances in which you hit damage causing objects as a start.

The whole root cause thing.

I agree. But the lake doesn't have many markers and the buoys that say "rocks" are not very accurate. I stay 100' away and still hit something. It's crazy....

I was just curious. I will definitely start trimming the outdrive up

I wouldn't do either of those. The skeg guard could actually cause thousands of dollars of damage since it can cause the skeg to break off in a bad spot rendering the lower unit useless. The only experience I have with prop guards is on small engines or inboard lobster-style boats that don't turn a whole lot of revs. It's primarily for keeping lines out of the prop. I'm not sure how well it would do against rocks - nor do I know if there would be any performance problems with your setup. But, I think you're better off just learning the lay of the lake - or going slower with a lookout up front when needed. If the markers are in the wrong spots - they can be moved.
