Mercruiser 350 mag seacore
I have a 2012 280 with a seacore 350 mag. On a recent trial from the winter launch, I got a system fault message and a loud steady tone. The engine went into idle automatically. I'm only at 28% fuel and it was very rough that day. I have changed the Gen III cool fuel filter but have not gone back out yet. Could this have triggered the alarm? Also on the read out I could not advance the msg to read the fault. It just went back to the "home screen"

I do not believe Merc monitors fuel pressure anywhere, so an issue with the filter is unlikely to send you into guardian. Do a quick search on guardian mode and you will see the sensors that can put it in that mode. That is the list your will need to check.

Thank you paulswagelock. I'm not too sure what you mean by a quick search of the guardian

If you have a water pressure sensor, which you probably do, a low reading will put you into guardian.
may want to check water pressure and may be time to to take a look at the raw water pump and intake betweend your outdrive and the water pump. May have some blockage or corrosion in the rubber intake lines causing low pressure...
