Nice little classic boats you have!!! :smt038

One little suggestion: you should change the rims of your bow portholes

Looks nice. Can't say I've ever seen a purple painted motor!! Absolutely nothing wrong with it. I did a repower on my 1980 SRV225EC this last summer. Got the motor from S&J or something like that in Washington. Had to upgrade the risers as well because they were cracked as was the block.

Originally had the 5.0 but went with a 5.7 because it was no more in cost. Probably gives the boat a bit more punch out of the water.

I really like these old Sea Rays. They are a solid piece of boat. I added an extra bilge pump and had to cut a hole in the transom for the discharge and the plug that came out was almost a 1/2 thick.

I'll post some pics one of these days. Enjoy

Nice boat!

I'm, in the middle of a repower now. I wound up going with two brand new 5.7 Alpha Replacements by Mercruiser from Michigan Motorz. My old motors were raw water cooled and by the time I paid for remanufactured and the core charges it wasn't all that much more to go with brand new. The bonus is that the complete fuel and ignition systems, balancer, flywheel, and all the tins are brand new too. Well worth the extra money.
One motor went bad, but the other one was replaced by the PO in 2003 and is still running strong so I'll probably sell it locally to get some of my money back.
Motors, new manifolds, and risers came today. Witing for the new Half System Fresh Water cooling sets to arrive at the end of the week. Hoping it's all done by sometime next week.

I have been saving up to buy some portholes that are chrome and open up. But at $300.00 each and 3 kids in college it will take some time. Hey, I looked at your restore job on Moonchild, she is a nice boat. You did a nice job. I would go to sea on her no problem.

I have found many that were cheaper but they would not fit into the exiting port hole. you can get the replacement rings and glass to fit on ebay. But I would like at least one port hole that would open up.

Welcome aboard, nice looking Monaco, they are fun little boats. I have done a lot of work on mine, ( She was in the junk pile when I got her) but it has been fun working on her. I find that they are solid boats that are very versatile fishing, pulling a tube, etc. I looked at a lot of bigger boats, but I am disabled and getting a little older and depend on the wife to do a lot of the launch, trailering and driving the tow vehicle. So i went smaller and I was very pleased with the boats handling, speed and interior space. I have a set of smart tabs to put on it this year I can't wait to see if they help the boats overall performance.

Do not know about them, I went with Rapido Marine. On their website there is a list of past customers you can contact by email. I contacted people here in my state that had bought longblocks from them. I talk to three guys on the phone and about 5 by email. All had good experinces with Rapido and said they would buy from them again. I have had my rebuild for about 40hrs so far and no problems related to the new longblock.

Do you mind me asking how much the brand new 5.7 Alpha replacement cost?

We had major flooding on our lake and it's possible I may need a new one. My motor is currently the 5.0L V8, 230hp (1987 SeaRay Monaco Cuddy)

Don’t remember off hand and I gave the receipts to the guy who bought the boat from me three years ago but I got them from Michigan Motorz.
You can check their website for current pricing.
