need some help on possible purchase 07 40 Dancer

I have been looking for a boat from 34-44 diesel for a while now, so a broker friend called and said he has a project boat not listed yet 07 40 with cumminsQSB5.0 380s 560 hrs gen set 544 hr
needs bottom done, I posted about the port wing glass is shattered and he said a leak on the forward hull that gets worse underway/ bow thruster?
anyway
I cant find much info on the this package, might be able to get under 115K
any help knowledge, performance, fuel numbers stats etc
the broker has run the boat and it runs fine, said probably no hours spent sleeping on her..

My personal experience is to never buy a boat the water coming in from "some place". Save up some more money or buy a smaller boat. But, that is only my opinion. You could have a couple extra thousand pounds in water hiding around your boat(inside fiberglass barrier).

Might be dirt cheap but it’s gonna be a huge headache and even more of a money pit than normal, IMO.

I agree, I did find the window 2K just the window, not sure on labor or can do myself ... bottom job is $4500 roughly with props done with prop speed etc,,
mystery is the leak of course..

That would not scare me just get it surveyed both hull and motors by a good survey team. Boat is new enough that unless they find major issues it can be fixed.

I just bought an ‘08 40 and I spent a months looking. Not a single boat I looked at was that cheap. And certainly no boat with 500 hours was even close to that amount. The 380’s is the smaller engine option for that boat but the more popular one. Based on my experience and that purchase price there must be significant issues with that vessel. You can have a curved windshield made and even if you spent 5K your still under. Bottom paint is roughly 3K. The water intrusion could be a number of things but where is it, salt or freshwater and lastly for that price what do the engines look like? Every broker will tell you it runs fine because the legal obligations and disclosure statements are not like buying a house. Unless you have a survey with a Cummins certified mechanic and a crap ton of extra cash I wouldn’t touch it. I know many would say otherwise but unless you are prepared to deal with extensive Hull work, dimpled, extra time on the hard, full service on the engines etc you could be in it for MORE than the price of a properly maintained boat.

if you have pictures post them but go into YachtWorld and looks up available 40’s and compare your boat to the market. You’ll find 115K is extraordinarily low.
