Need to source new CAT 3126 Aftercoolers part#278-6038

Removed my after coolers and had them sent to the local shop for pressure testing and cleaning. Mechanic advised that they did not look very healthy, with some water corrosion detected. Advised to source some new ones just in case they were shot. Can anyone point me to a reliable source for some CAT Aftercoolers for 3126's? I imagine they are a lot more abundant and hopefully cheaper in the Southeast then up here in the Northwest. The CAT part number is 278-6038. Thanks in advance!

Doesn't look anything like mine either.
I would go to a local Cat dealer with your engine serial numbers and let them look them up for you. You'll probably have to buy your replacements from them anyway.

I just did this a couple of weeks ago on a 410 that I am helping get ready for sale. The part number looks correct, the price is accurate, but, the photo is incorrect.

You need gaskets (2 sets if the engines have heaters next to the aftercooler) and o-rings for the zinc plugs as well. They do not come with zincs, so order up a couple sets of zincs. If yours are leaking, then you may need a spare bolt or two (there are something like 20 bolts on each). I had to grind the head off one of the bolts.

I saw where Frank W. suggested using muriatic acid to soak your old zinc anode heads/holders/bolts (whatever they are called) so that they can be reused.
