Bought a boat, and I’d like to combine this hobby with two of my other hobbies, making YouTube videos and flying my drone.

Below is the first of what I hope will be a series of videos about our boating adventures.

Although I do not intend to have these videos boat maintenance focused, the next half dozen or so videos will be me bringing this boat back to life.

What would you like to see in future videos?

3rd video just finished uploading

This video shows me cleaning the bilge and motor, clearing a clogged scupper, fixing the bilge pump float switch, cleaning the flame arrestor, replacing the idle air control or IAC muffler, replacing the windshield wiper for a bargain price, and cleaning the fresh water pump screen filter.

You should place a link to your Youtube channel in your signature.

A good winterizing video is always helpful.

And since it look like you trailer your boat.... a good wheel bearing replacement and or maintenance video.

Thank you, email signature added. I will work at the other two.

For trailered boats, a video on brakes & tires, tiedowns. There are some pretty sad/funny photos of boats not secured to the trailer, and the result.

Thank you Eric.

My new trailer is not properly set-up for my boat.

For a first trailer related vidoe, how about I explain and show my process to custom fit and balance a trailer to a boat?

As a point of convenience, I need to get the trailer set-up for my boat anyways. So I may as well make a video about it.

I’m not sure how many people understand how to properly adjust a custom trailer to fit a boat. Maybe they undersatand moving the bunks but that may be about it. But then again, I’m not sure how many people would have interest in learning how to do it eaither.

Just a bit of disclosure, my custom trailer set-up steps are not the only way to do it. They are what I do given my experience and bias. For example, I have a bunk over roller bias, aluminum frame over steel bias, and a galvanized over stainless hardware bias. I also have a bias toward safer towing over easy loading at the ramp. I will try to make my bias and reasoning clear in the video.

At a mimimum, the video may cause people to look at their trailer with the boat loaded and with a bettter informed eye, check to see if the items that can be adjusted on their trailer are adjusted to the optimal location.

In the end, the goal is to set-up a trailer that is as safe and easy as you can get it for towing, unloading, loading, and gives the boat non-damaging support when its sitting on the trailer.

Trailer maintenance and care may be something for a future video. With the trailer being brand spanking new, I’m not in a position to replace wheel bearings, etc.

Thoughts?

Hi Doug, I think your plan is a good one. Another approach would be to talk to others launching where you do and see what their top issues are. Both for their boat(s) and for what they see others doing right or wrong.

Would like this video I have to fit my trailer to my 268. I am in the process if getting it lengthened because it us too shirt we had a 22 ft on it for years . So far I've added new 5000lb axles . Will be buying site next week to weld up to the boat cradling part and then adjusting the position of the chassis under it to get proper tounge weight. I am leaning towards bunks as the rollers are shot on the trailer and i think itll offer best support for my hull over the winter. I have to get it right and my boat is in the water now so hard to get measurements

Good luck with your project. One thing we added to the trailer of our 250 Sundancer was vertical guides. I got 4 of these and had two welded together so they were quite tall. Something needed for our steep ramps. Made it easy to see where the trailer was and the rollers guided the boat right in.
Thank you. I am likely to add trailer guides next spring. Wil be sure to make a vidoe about them.
