I am in the process of buying a 2003 240 SD? My wife and I have looked all summer and finally found one that suits our wants and needs. We were wanting to know if we could document it? Does anyone know what the net tonnage of this boat is or where we could find it?

Not sure, but I don't think you can document a 240 SD... I think it has to be a minimum of 27' and yacht certified before you can document.

I just searched the coast guard website (thanks fwebster), the only requirements that I found said the vessel needs to have at least 5 net tonnage and be owned by an American Citizen. From the formula that they give the 240SD is 5.086 net tonnage so I am going to apply and see what happens. Will update in 30 days Thanks Now for my next question
I have a 1984 207 Monaco that is getting ready to be rehabbed The engine is coming out in January stripping the boat of all the wood and replacing. I cant decide if I want to get a crate engine with updated electronics or rebuild the existing engine and putting every back to factory specs? If I update the engine, Do I have to reinforce the motor mounts and stringers to compensate for the higher output of horsepower? Any opinions out there

....

My dad had a 1976 Bayliner 2450 Saratoga Fisherman that had been in a warehouse on a trailer since 1986. When he passed away in 2015, I began exploring rehabbing that boat from stem to stern. I even had a marine surveyor look at it for me to determine hull and transom integrity. Everybody laughed at me. Said that I would never get my money back out of it. That sort of wasn't the point.

I bought a 2004 420 instead.

Let's see if I get my money out of this one!

OK So I finally got the paperwork back from the Coast Guard. The Certified my Boat ( I mean Vessel) It is called KASH, A combination of my children's names. It only took 6 months and a lot of research but it is done.
