New Attwood 6 Gal hot water heater installation?
I bought a new SS HWH online. The connections seem simple and obvious but how do you get the old one out and the new one in? On my 2000 310 it has to go down via the main engine hatch. The side panels of floor are too narrow. Now the exhaust risers and possibly the water filter basket are in the way.
Has anybody done this? I'm not that mechanically inclined to where I'm comfortable taking apart my exhaust. Any advise as to how to do this properly?

I just did this on my 280. Had to remove bunch of engine components to make it happen. Good luck...takes thought and planning.

The risers at minimum have to come off. Make sure you get photos of the connection, get the proper gaskets for the remount and torque it to specs. It comes out at an angle. Take your time. Look for any soft spots in the area. Some are raising their heaters on raised tiles.

They keep the moisture which will be produced from the heat and cold of the ER at bay.

Ping jaywoodz. He did his a short while ago.

We are all on borrowed time my friend. My heater is original to the boat, so you never know about these things. An element is a cheap fix ... go boating today instead of spending boat bucks now. If the risers need to be replaced down the road, I would think that would be the time to do it IMHO.

Point well taken....

I'm an old man...NO more borrowed time jokes!

The boat is a 2000... the HWH is original... the element''s been changed a few times. The HWH is a rusty mess. A new element i had the yard put in cost me $300 last season. I needed it done quickly during the week as we spent the weekend on the boat with no hot water and were going away with friends the following weekend.
For the $360 I was able to get the SS version with free shipping. I didn't think it was so hard to install.
I never did anything to the risers... the yard did all that work.... Any info on the Riser gaskets or similar would be helpful.
