When we first wrote the previous owner of our interest the previous owner told us that the canvas need some attention. My father has worked all his life in the confection and still has sewing machines we thought that some reparations will do the job and next year we could get a new canvas.

When visit the boat for the first time the weather was good so we didn’t payed that much attention to the canvas, in our head we already decided that my father do the first repairs. After we did the transition and spend a week on the boat in Slovenië waiting for transport to the Netherlands we discovered that the canvas really needed a lot of attention :(. We took the canvas home and while the boat went on transport my father had worked for 3 full days on repairing all holes and zippers.

finally the boat arrived and ofcourse it was raining so we had to install the canvas right away. At some point on installing I leaned on the canvas and crackkkk. Omg wtf our world collapsed. All 3 days work from my 82 year old father almost for nothing. The canvas didn’t need attention at all, it was just worn out completely. I made some videos when it’s raining outside and inside, now we can laugh about it but at that time......

It was half augustus 2019 and all upholstery company’s can’t make a new one in couple days, even worse they even don’t have the time on short period. Besides the hurry it was also a big extra cost. Bigger boat, bigger canvas. Our local upholstery shop was very helpful and planned us in September. First the front were it rained inside the most and then in October the rear.

This period was a very hard and frustrating period for us because a lot of things got broken and we faced a raining period. Buckets everywhere and that ain’t gonna make you happy.

After the front canvas was made we were so happy you can’t imagine hahaha. The rooftop from the rear canvas was not made perfect so a new one has to be made but we are dry now. The rooftop is already made but the whole canvas need 3 full working days more to adjust. Important that it’s dry for that adjustments and not to cold. We hope by the end of February or begin March that we can finish the job.

the new canvas is made from Sunbrella marina canvas. At some point we put extra rvs tubes on the frame and the canvas was made from scratch. First everything was molded. When finish completely I add some more photos

in the rear canvas we added big windows that give a lot of space and visibility when boating in the rain.

The extra tube we placed on both sides for extra support.
The rear canvas is so big and when wind is blowing enormous forces will come on the frame.

Marc, that new top looks very nice. The addition of the large window on the stern will make maneuvering the boat much easier because you will be able to see where you're going when backing.

Thanks for sharing the photos. I bet you are happy it's all done and now you can just enjoy the new boat.

Hahaha it’s not done at all, next month we gonna make new cushions for the couch in salon and replace the washer/dryer for a new 220v version, in May she goes out the water for installing a Sidepower bowthruster and put a new antifouling layer and put a new waterline stripe and do a polish job.
Then around the first of June we begin on our 700km trip true the corners of Netherlands and start enjoying our ship. I will post all te hard work
