Boat Info
1989 Sea Ray 190 Bowrider.
Engines
5.7 Alpha One
Hi all, was gifted a 1989 190 BowRider from an old family friend. Id been on the boat before but at least 20 years ago. Knowing the PO very well I did some PM on it, at least what I knew to do. Changed outdrive oil, and thanks to this site, replaced impeller as well. First trip out it started getting warm and alarm went off, so I searched here and figured the impeller was the best place to start. Ran at 140-145 next trip out for 4 hours. So thanks for that! Looking forward to enjoying both the boat and this site for years. Were hour meters standard on these models? I haven't found one, but I probably haven't looked where I should. Thanks!

Cole

Congrats on the new boat, that thing must fly with a 350! Hour meter is usually in a dash bezel like the other gauges or possibly in the engine bay. Good luck and have fun!

The older/smaller SeaRays usually had the hour meter under the dash - that is where mine is - it's a surface mount type on the left side.

It tops out around 48 on the dash speedo, but I need to check it with GPS as that bounces around quite a bit. 4600 rpm at WOT which from what Ive read is about spot on. Thanks!!

Sorry dude. Gonna need photos. No photos means no story on here...lol

Also....what part of the country?

190 is a great boat. Fast and agile. 350 would put it towards the top of 190 class of boats. Good score

Hour Meter on mine, 1990 200BR is port side engine bay.
Remove engine cover and you should see it.

Btw. I spent last year out in Muskegon area, sadly I was boatless though

Welcome to CSR! Great starter boat, try to talk many people to start with this type of boat. BTW you can add some juice to that 350 if the urge ever strikes. Several EFI kits available to add about 30 HP to the engine.

Oh the urge stuck. Please tell me more. I’m guessing I may need a prop change as well ?

Well.....for starters.....you certainly have the right mind set for CSR. Come on in and put your feet up. Welcome to the CSR family. There is only about a million years of experience on here. Your question will get answered by one of the resident experts. If nothing else holler for Captain Rusty. I think he worked for Sea Ray for many years.

I’ve had two boats before, an older bay liner and a speedboat with a 175 mercury outboard, but that was 30 some years ago. I was amazed at how solid this is and handles at 53 mph. For a 31 year old boat. I’m impressed.

And you will feel the same when she is 51 years old. Take care of her and she will take care of you and your family. Sea Ray makes/made a great boat. I wish you well. The stories your kids will tell about their dad and THAT boat are priceless.
