Just bought our first boat a couple months ago. 2005 Searay 185 Sport. It has the 190 HP 4.3 Merc. Very low hours (160). Looks and runs as if it were brand new. The previous owner bought it brand new. He left it relatively factory. In fact, the stock number sticker is still on the tower. We’ve had it out several times already logging about 20 hours. The benefit of living in AZ. It was 72° this past weekend. I added a second battery, battery switch, automatic charging relay, LED lights in the interior, moved the radio and amps to the second battery. Probably won’t do much more than that as I’m already wanting a bigger boat. LOL! Then I get the look from my wife. I’ve already gotten a ton of info from this forum so I figured I’d join so I can give insight from what I’ve learned so far.

Moto, welcome to CSR. That is one great looking boat.

Where do you do your boating? Lake Pleasant? We have a place in Sun City West and have a 13' Boston Whaler that we take up there. Nice lake to go exploring on.

We go to Lake Pleasant. It’s beautiful for sure!

...I appreciate the work you have done on your electrical system and invite you to share the details. I like to do my own work and "improve" on the manufacturers' ideas. I've been in auto and boat blogs for a while and gotten in the habit of sharing. This invites criticism but some of it is constructive or at least thought provoking. Also, I can show off what I have done, like: http://www.clubsearay.com/index.php?threads/engine-shutdown-on-extinguisher-discharge-esrs.96217/
....Is there a better way to run the sound amplifier without concern for starting the boat? I don't like the weight of the additional battery back where it hinders planing. Last boat, I ran the heavy cables up to a location under the starboard forward seat. Guess you addressed the electrical concerns with a relay.
What about using one of these really small portable starting batteries they sell at the auto parts store? I'm sure they are lithium based but the voltages are usually wrong. Ought to be a commercial unit.
!!!!!This switch would disconnect the amplifier when the voltage of the single battery was getting too low to start the engine. https://www.amazon.com/Victron-Batt...ocphy=9033333&hvtargid=pla-681148251055&psc=1
