Hello, I am the proud (maybe crazy) new owner of my first Sea Ray! I upgraded from a 1968 Starcraft 16' Seafarer with a 1969 20hp Johnson to this 1977 SRV 197 BR with a Mercruiser 233. Currently pulling off 45 years worth of Band Aids to find nothing has healed. I officially have more invested in used and new parts than what I paid for the boat, hopefully it will at least move both directions on the water tomorrow. :cool:

We had nearly 3" of rain that weekend and since I work on it from the shade of a tree, it did not get finished. Currently I am having trouble adjusting my cables to get full forward and reverse.
 
Well I can finally report that my boat has been on the water. After using it for a stair climber exercise machine for 2 months, and losing 12 lbs., it moves thru the water. I had the motor out 3 times, replaced the gimbal housing, the oil pump, installed an electronic ignition distributor and installed the correct lower unit. Here is video my wife put together:
