What’s a good body soap and shampoo that doesn’t wreak havoc with the shower sump?

Dial gold shower shower gel has worked very well for me for many years.

KevinC hit the nail on the head. No bar soap...any body wash will do.

I just threw a toilet bowl tablet in the sump, from advice on here. My shower sump went from scummy to spotless.

Thanks guys

I will definitely add a toilet bowl tablet.

I had used a bottle of 3n1 (soap, shampoo and conditioner) and that stuff gummed up the pump in about three showers.

We have used plan old Ivory soap for many years without any issues. We use our shower about 60 times a season. The key is to keep the sump clean. For that we use a concentrated citrus bilge cleaner that we pour down the drain once a week. The other key is to not let hair clog things up. We use fiberglass window screen that is fitted under the drain in the floor. That gets changed out every two weeks. Shampoo is off the shelf stuff you use at home.

Periodically pour 1/2 gallon of cleaning vinaigrette down the shower drain. Cheap and easy; Keeps my systems tip top. I also add it to the toilets; cleans the holding tanks.

Just curious but how much darn soap are you using? I’m a pretty hairy fella but a 2-3 inch squirt of the body wash is all I use. Agree on some sort of treatment in the sump. I made a huge batch of no flex digestor so I mix table spoon in some water to pour down drains when we leave boat

There were three of us on board for five days. The “about three showers” part was an over exaggeration. Sorry, Im a reformed fisherman, I thought that it would be obvious.

I have been using oxi-clean to clean it since then but I figured it would be better to use a soap that doesn’t clog as much to begin with.
