i missed this forum so I posted above in the “who is who” forum.

Not necessary to repost I hope.

My interest is a 45 foot 1999 Sea Ray Sundancer. It’s in really great condition with the light blonde interior. In case this one goes there is another with the mahogany interior that is just as nice.

My boating will be on the “Mighty Mississippi” river. I.E. another river rat as the popular saying in the land of ten thousand lakes.

I plan on living aboard and have already found a marina that caters to this and spent considerable time discussing how this is done.

I tend to write “ books” so I’ll stop here, inviting comments.

Welcome! pics needed... i too hope for a live aboard one day

Thanks, I’ll post pictures if this all goes through.

My second choice is a 1999 370 Sundancer. There is a little less space. Everything is just a bit smaller and you lose the washer/dryer.

These aren’t the largest but sure would save running to the local laundromat. I also considered adding one to the 3700 but where? There is not much unused space so something would have to go. Plusit has to fit the style too.

Something like this?

Not this bad? Really! LOL

Actually I’m pretty much wash-‘n-wear casual. “Linus” type according to my sister.
I do like to keep my cars and hopefully boat nice however.

Welcome aboard - lots of great info and advice here on CSR.

I own a 1995 330 Sundancer and I bought out of Windmill Marina. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about the St. Croix River. Best place to be!

Welcome Byron and Larry! This is a great group of folks!

You won't be disappointed with the 450, Especially if going to be a live aboard. They just have a lot of room and comfortable space. We took our washer/Dryer out and put in 4 sliding shelves, Never worked very well anyway. A good friend told me to buy my second boat first, Don't be intimidated by the size, And he was sure right. handles easier than the smaller boats. Good luck !!

Well, I made the offer and filled out a loan app. I’m not convinced the loan co. is going to go on this. The rate may be too high for my budget. There is another co I can go with that may be more friendly.

I got shocked at insurance costs! My classic 77 el Camino SS that’s been restored to near new only costs $170 per year for agreed value. Multiplying that times ten figuring the boat is worth about ten times the car value, shows the el Camino at $1700 comparable per year to $ 2200 for the boat and I need to up the boat liability to $500 grand. I’m still, shopping for insurance but I needed something for the loan. I should know if I’m a new owner or still a “wisher” by the end of next week.

Live aboard slip fees are about equal across the board for the four marinas in the location I need. It’s possible I may be able to bring a bulk oil co in for fuel as the selected marina does not have diesel at the fuel dock. The diesel guys usually get together and buy fuel together. We have 5% to 15% biodiesel here in MN so it is very good for the motor and injector pumps. It also is treated for winter so it doesn’t gel until below -25F. It clouds but still flows. For the most part we have very clean diesel here. The water separators will take care of any water condensate.

I didn’t check the boat out much today other than to drive by it. Someone noted it was pretty shinny, something I didn’t notice since it was pouring rain both times I had looked at it. Indeed it is below the gunwales however it’s probably a little dull topside. I’ve got polishing equipment so that will be taken care of.

I just hope everything works as well as it looks. The antique electronics do bother me but for now the depth finder is most important. I did take that into consideration in my offer.

I need to get back to reality.
Later.

Have you ended up onboard yet? We just bought a 310, currently at Wolf but moving a bit south to Windmill next season. We’re out every weekend if there are any interested to meet and greet.

Well hi, nice to know there are other Silverton owners in the area. I wound up purchasing a 1989 Silverton 34 Express cruiser. It has twin 454 Crusaders. I really haven’t “moved in” yet as the sea trial took a couple try’s to get correct. So I lost about a month.

I just purchased the boat last weekend. I’ve only had it out by myself once and only for a short time. I did manage to get it back in the slip with a very strong cross current. It took two try’s but I didn’t smash anything or any other boats.
It’s a heavy boat and tugging it sideways to get tied up in the slip takes some effort.

I work up by Osceola and turn off 95 just north of Stillwater to head over to Inver Grove where I live.

I’m bringing the boat up from Red Wing Sat. to my home marina, River Heights Marina in Inver Grove.

It will be hauled for the winter in Oct. I’ve asked for last out first in next spring.

It would be fun to get together. Maybe meet at someplace like Perkins for a meal and chat. I’m pretty mobile. So far work has just imploded this year. I haven’t had many days off since last year, except to deal with this boat and medical issues and car issues. Sat. I usually go to a streetrod breakfast until about 9:00 am except this week. Sun. I usually just lay around recovering from the week but that would also be a good day for me.

If you like call me in the evening, I’m up ‘till all hours. Sometimes I’ll,be out with my dog but I have my phone with me.

Hi Byron Les here, I admire what your doing . I always wanted to live aboard guess it won't happen as long as i'm with the Admiral . Also i've been told " Once in a while you just need a good door to slam ! "
lol

LOL. On a boat you keep throwables.....the sinking kind, or expendables.

Due to delays with the sea trial I used up all my prep time for the season so the boat will,be hauled for the winter in a couple weeks. It gets a hull pressure wash and shrink wrap. I get to change all the underwater anodes and check the props and struts. My apt. lease runs out in April so it will work perfect for the move.

I’m sure it will be an experience to live aboard this boat. I have only a few minor things to fix from the survey.

We are going to move it about 40 miles this week end so this will be my first real outing with it.

Welcome aboard Captain. I could never talk the Admiral into living aboard but it sounds lovely.
