NFL History...history not often reported or leaked to the ticket holders.

I hope this helps you; it opened my eyes, to understand just when the public’s respect for the NFL organization started to crumble....

* In 2012 the NFL had an issue with Tim Tebow kneeling for each game to pray, they also had an issue with Tebow wearing John 3:16 as part of his eye-black to avoid glare, and made him take it off.
* In 2013 the NFL fined Brandon Marshall for wearing green cleats to raise awareness for people with mental health disorders.
* In 2014 Robert Griffin III (RG3) entered a post-game press conference wearing a shirt that said "Know Jesus Know Peace" but was forced to turn it inside out by an NFL uniform inspector before speaking at the podium.
* In 2015 DeAngelo Williams was fined for wearing "Find the Cure" eye black for breast cancer awareness.
* In 2015 William Gay was fined for wearing purple cleats to raise awareness for domestic violence. (Not that the NFL has a domestic violence problem...).
*In 2016 the NFL prevented the Dallas Cowboys from wearing a decal on their helmet in honor of 5 Dallas Police officers killed in the line of duty.
* 2016 the NFL threatened to fine players who wanted to wear cleats to commemorate the 15th anniversary of 9/11.

So tell me again how the NFL supports free speech and expression, all of a sudden... It seems quite clear based on these facts that the NFL has taken a position against any action by NFL players demonstrating RESPECT for any issue: For God, social causes such as mental health, cancer, domestic violence, for cops killed arbitrarily for being cops, for the Memory of 9/11...

BUT they will allow demonstrations of DISRESPECT for our National Flag, our National Anthem, for America , and for the American People, if it will help mollify a particular Group and its supporters. That is who and what the NFL now is shown itself to be.

Pass this post along to all your friends and family, if you believe it worthy of sharing.

Honor our military; too many of whom have come home with the American Flag draped over their coffin.

Agreed... but you are aware the policy changed this month. See below. I'm personally OK with the new policy.

NFL owners have unanimously approved a new national anthem policy that requires players to stand if they are on the field during the performance but gives them the option to remain in the locker room if they prefer, it was announced Wednesday.

The policy subjects teams to a fine if a player or any other team personnel do not show respect for the anthem. That includes any attempt to sit or kneel, as dozens of players have done during the past two seasons to protest racial inequality and police brutality. Those teams also will have the option to fine any team personnel, including players, for the infraction.

"We want people to be respectful of the national anthem," commissioner Roger Goodell said. "We want people to stand -- that's all personnel -- and make sure they treat this moment in a respectful fashion. That's something we think we owe. [But] we were also very sensitive to give players choices."

Just to be clear, a private organization is free to impose rules of conduct involving speech as a condition of employment. The First Amendment deals with the governments right (or lack thereof) to restrict speech.

Unfortunately, this distinction is getting lost (or ignored) in the public debate.

I have no respect for anyone who has no respect for our flag
Let them join the "Wasington Kneelers"

I will continue my boycott of any NFL games and do my best to not support any company that does support the NFL.

It won't make a hill of beans different to those groups but it does make me feel better

Being in MN & and Viking fan, I realized I didn't miss much last year when I boycotted the NFL. I was going to try it again this year, regardless.

But the let Kapernick wear the 'pig' socks that disrespected the police???

At least glad they made the recent changes about the anthem.

Too little too late... ...the damage is done. From what I have seen the kids 15-25.. Don't get it. And continue to watch and support... So the NFL is going to have to wait until that audience matures over the next few years to get back to where they were before a QB took a knee... The NFL is purely a business... Goodell took his eye off the ball and should go... And give up his free private jet for life, his insane multi-million dollar contract and free health care until he dies ....what a frick'n gong show.

Boom! Nailed it Blue

....im out boating no time for BS disrespect, killed my interest ...and the Bucs suck

do whatever on your own time and money but not when im paying to watch, goes for Hollywood too

I stopped watching the Seahawks last year after a couple of players took a knee and one in particular was quite vocal about the BLM issue.

I don't care if they protest, but DO NOT disrespect my flag, my National Anthem or the soldiers who gave it all on the field of battle so that we could enjoy a peaceful Sunday.

Thanks for the list! I've been a proponent of govt staying out of business and business being able to do as it pleases (basically). If they want to ban something, it's their right. Secondly, I don't care about the NFL anymore. I detoxed years ago but I'm tired of people saying they're wrong on this issue. I had one person tell me,"... they're just pandering to their fans." Yes. They are. And?

I know right? Of course they are pandering to their fans, because business.

Nice clip!
It’s amazing how people so staunchly will defend the second amendment, but want to throw out Americans for exercising their 1st amendment right.
We may not like flag burners and people taking a knee, but that is exactly what our great soldiers defend when they go to war time and time again.
We have to live with ALL our bill of rights as they were written. Alter just one amendment and our way of life that we fight for and defend becomes meaningless.

Great clip! Could not have said it better. I have said it before, the flag and the anthem represent an idea and are not idols to be worshipped on their own. A concept the dime store patriots in this country don't get.
