No water coming out of generator

I think I read that, which is why I copied that pic of the coupler. Sounds like he may have two issues going on at the same time.

But I also noticed in his pic, that the allen bolts are still in place, and if I recall properly, the coupler is behind that plate. (Am I right about that??)

I have no idea I wasn’t even aware that could happen and there was a part to replace back there

On my way to Portsmouth. When I dock I’ll try flushing it out with the hose connected to the dock water. The guy I bought it from gave me the spare coupler part so will see what happens when I get there. The impeller is fine and looks brand new so has to be blockage and the coupler issue.... btw / you guys are awesome. Thank you

Sounds like that may be the case. Lucked out and found a local diver to come and look underneath. He didn’t feel any blockage so it has to be the coupler. Good news is that he was able to replace all my zincs. Going to stay an extra day in Portsmouth to have time to fix the gen and get a little downtime before making final leg of the trip to NJ.

Sounds to me like the impeller is not spinning which means the coupler is broken. Once you get the coupler fixed the impeller should spin and you should be good to go. If not, use the stiff zip tie trick or a hose with good pressure and see if there is a blockage in the basket/strainer and the hose to the thru hull fitting.

Regarding that coupler, is that a part unique to Kohler generators? Would my Onan 9KW diesel have that coupler as well?

Pretty sure that's unique to Kohler. My 7.5kW Onan has a totally different design for the water pump than that Kohler that does not use such a coupler. I would suspect that yours is closer to mine.
