Paid marina to install new impellers 2 years ago (about 50 hours been put on). 1999 Mercruiser 7.4L Horizons closed cooling. Yesterday got white smoke on port engine and saw a sheen in the water outside exhaust port. And temp. was higher than starboard engine. Started engine today and no water flow. Shut engine off.
Can anyone think of a way to not get flow outsiders of bad water pump impeller? Strainer is clean. Plugged heat exchanger? Can I check if by taking off tbe round end cap?
I supposed tbe marina porked me and never put new impellers on. Otherwise I'd say most likely impeller shot. And not sure about the sheen in the water. Coolant is full. Oil good.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

My thought, 2 year old impellers are not new. Mechanics have told me that sitting unused is harder on an impeller than frequent use.

Understand that the strainer is clean, are you getting water flow into the strainer? With the strainer open, when you crack open the sea cock is water flowing in?

Could be an obstruction in the incoming line.

Cant think of a connection between water flow and the sheen on the water or white smoke.

So I think you were saying to close the Seacock open up the lid on the strainer and then crack open the Seacock to see if a flow starts coming out of the top of the strainer?

Two year old impellers in your boating area shouldn't be an issue. Could be you've sucked something into the intake .
