Just checking to see if anybody would be interested in a gathering on Priest Lake, Lake Pend Oreille or the Columbia or Snake River somewhere next Summer? Other location suggestions are welcome. I just keep seeing members and think it would be fun to actually meet some of you in person. We did this a while back, meeting in Tri-Cities and went up through the lock at Ice Harbor Dam on the Snake River. It was a different web site, but thought I've give this a try to see if anyone would be interested.

Let us know!

That sounds like fun. We are interested.

While I am not interested in towing my boat to the east side, I would be interested in keeping in the loop on NW group get togethers. I plan on trying to start out a Puget Sound group to meet say once every other month starting in Spring. I will use this West coast forum to put out notices. I actually think we need a Washington or Northwest region added because the west coast is just too broad.

I'd be up to a Columbia River cruise. I think it would be fun to go up river and out to the Astoria bar. I'm still trying to find a secure location to park the pick up and trailer around the PDX area. Might have to leave out of Newport and up the river. Rent a spot near the bay to park.

Some of us trailer all the time so getting to the Puget Sound or San Juan's would not be out of the question either. We usually do a few weeks in the Juan's anyway! Coordinating with a rendezvous on the West side would not be too hard.

Lake Union Sea Ray nka Union Marine... Might be back this upcoming new year with events around Puget Sound and their best one at Roche Harbor...

For purely selfish reasons I'd like to see it on the Columbia and Snake Rivers. If you're a PNW boater and have yet to go through the locks on the rivers you're missing out on a great experience.

I'm a member of a yacht club in Kennewick and could likely use it to host a meet and greet event. There's also lots of dock space here (I think it's $10/night rental from the Port of Kennewick) and lots of space to park truck/trailers.

I have been through a great many locks around the world, but I have not been through any of the locks on the Columbia. I would love to trailer down to Lewiston and sail/ cruises down river to Astoria and back (some day).

Doug, I haven't been to the Clarkston/Lewiston area by boat in years but I have heard rumblings that there is very little (if any) moorage space up there. If you want to do that and need a volunteer to drive your truck and trailer down to the Tri Cities let me know and I'll try to find someone to help you out.

Doug,

We almost did a portion of that trip last summer. We decided it was too dang hot, so we postponed it. We've been considering trailering to Lewiston and coming down the Snake to the Tri-Cities. It would be a nice leisurely trip and kind of fun thing to do. I think there were three of us, so we could dump the boats in at Lewiston and then drive the trailers back down to Kennewick and then catch a ride BACK to Lewiston to start the trip. The first day would be just positioning boats and trailers I'm guessing. We might give it a whirl next summer!

This past summer was very hot up our way and with the added smoke (poor air quality) we lost 3-4 weekends of boat-time. I bet the Snake and Columbia rivers can get pretty hot in the middle of summer. We used to spend a lot of time on Lake Roosevelt (when we were younger) but it gets too hot down in that gorge.

The Columbia can get warm up towards The Dalles and east. But usually stays cooler on the west side from PDX. I personally prefer the warmer and have had to put on a hoodie in the evenings and mornings out in the west side. But it's the same here on the east slope of the coastal range. When it was hitting the 118* in June, it was still dropping to the 70's at early morning hours. The Columbia always has the winds or breeze at least and that helps.

Sundancer, I like your plan but let me offer a minor change--I happen to know a guy from the Tri Cities that would be willing to drive all of you back up there after you have dropped your trucks/trailers here in the Tri. It might cost you a beer or three after you get down here and we start swapping boating stories.

Mike,

We might take you up on that! I know a few folks in Lewiston and I might be able to time it with one of their trips back from Tri-Cities. Either way, it's difficult to coordinate, but a one way return would be a VERY nice gesture! Of course we'd pay mileage, beer(You name the brand!) or something else that might be hard to get as a payment! We'll definitely stay in touch! Thank you!!

We've talked about boating to Lewiston, and back.
We were planning it for last summer for my mom's annual summer visit, but she's getting older and can't take the heat like she use to, so we went to Lake Chelan instead.

It could be done in June or maybe even September when it's a little cooler. Last summer was ridiculously hot with 100 degree temps starting in late June and going well in to August. Usually about two weeks or 100 degree temps is normal around the end of July.

Up and back could be done, but I'm thinking one way would suffice. I'm game and could be convinced to go up and back!

The previous owner of my boat is from Moses Lake and he trailered the boat to Lake Chelan once, said it was amazing. The wife and I have talked for years about taking one of boats over to Lake Chelan, but never have pulled the trigger. We (I) have a pretty extensive "To Do" list for the 330DA this winter/ spring so my summer planning might be on hold until.
