Figure a mile per gallonHi. Can anyone give me advice about distance and speed. The boat is a 2001 310 Sundancer with twin Mercruiser 350 MAG MPI (350 cu in, 300 hp, 5,735 cc, V8), 300 hrs, well cared for with regular servicing, but up until now used only for cruising on Ontario - Lake Huron, specifically the inner channels in the Parry Sound-Waubaushene area. I want to take it across Georgian Bay from Vic Harbour up to Little Current/Killarney. Does the boat have that reach in one run or do I need to do a refuel or engine cool stop at Parry Sound or Tobermory? What would be an optimal cruising RPM/speed? What would be the fuel flow at that optimal cruising setting? And, if anyone knows, what would be the best way to take the boat to Mackinac Island from Vic Harbour?
Assuming someone didn't 5200 it, you should be able to remove the entire switch assembly from the top.I need to repair or replace one of my windlass foot switches. There doesn't seem to be any way to access it from below, other than reaching across the underside of the bow through the anchor hatch opening (which is not very feasible), but there seems to be resistance when I try to pull it up through the hole in the deck.
Can anyone tell me the best way to get access to this switch so I can remove it?
I want to get a new set of double-braid lines before my 310 gets here later this week. I'm curious what diameter dock lines you folks use. I've always found the 1/8"-of-diameter-per-9'-of-boat-length formula to seem a bit light, and I think 1/2" lines would appear quite small on the big cleats of a 310. Do most people use 5/8"? With the cost of double-braid lines, I want to get it right the first time.
Could be clogged vent?
I'm sure this question has NEVER been asked!! If it has, I wasn't able to find the answer... Bottom Paint? How much will I need for my 2000 310?
Recommendations? I used to use Super Ship Bottom but the poor fellow that owns the company in Florida took ill and it is no longer in production.
FWIW,
Just had a coat of bottom paint on my 500 done yesterday and they used less than 3 gallons including the mechanism for my swim platform.
I used https://www.seahawkpaints.com/product/cukote/, but would think it covers the same.
Hey Shaps! Long Island... North or south shore? I'm in Center Moriches. Still a bit chilly here on the south shore. I was in Syosset yesterday for work and they are actually getting leaves on their trees. Going through my list of To-Do's. This is my first time bottom paining my new to me 310. Thanks for the reply!
My previous boat was a 28 Penn Yan that drew a whopping 22" of water. That boat was made for Moriches Bay. When I bought Civility, it was in the Peconic River at an awesome, no frills marina. I was able to spend October and November playing on the Peconic Bay. LOT'S more to do / see than Moriches Bay. I have a ramp in my neighborhood so I drove her around in December. All the buoys had been removed by this time. I SHOULD have went outside. I stayed inside. Even with two competent lookouts, Two competent GPS units, I still shined the props twice. Nice homes at dune road, but 4 hours to run 25 miles! Needless to say, We're going back this year. I could put her in as of today, but it's still chilly. Maybe a couple more weeks.Boat is on the South Shore, in Lindenhurst. I'm a North Shore guy.
My boat is going in Saturday. Can't wait!
Spent a long weekend at West Hampton Bath & Tennis last year, went on the outside to Shinnecock and worked my way back. I would love to run inside, but there's no water by you!
