Official (1998-2002) 310 Sundancer Thread

Uplate.....I am NOT the original owner, so it could have been removed prior to me taking possesion. I have the same problem as you do though, that hatch "rocks" a bit. If you find the seal part number please let me know. If the seal is no longer available(which I suspect) I was planning on using an engine hatch seal from Caterpillar. Let me know if you find a part number.

Thanks,
Chris

Sorry Chris. Skipped over the not word in your original post.

I will let you know, but I suspect it is probably the same gasket that the engine hatch uses.

will let you know what I find out.

Bought my 2000 310 Sundancer a month ago and fell in love with it. It is loaded and the only thing that I don't like is the frig. I need to replace it, because it doesn't get cold enough.

Update:

I talked to my dealer today about the gaskets/seals on the starboard and port side hatches. I could not find anything listed in my boat parts manual and neither could they. The parts girl (who said she has been there since 1997, said none of the engine hatches or side hatches ever came with a gasket. Now I find this strange as my engine hatch has certainly some sort of OEM gasket around the edge. It is too perfect of a seal to be some sort of hack job by the PO.
Erwin Marine, the local searay dealer, says there is no gaskets ever installed on any hatches or decking. Even on the newer boats.

I am confused as to what I have seen posted here. Some say they have it, and others no. My main Engine hatch has the gasket, but the port and starboard decks do not.

I just bought a 1998 310 this summer and love it. Good luck with her.
Hi mstaglia,
I am new to CSR. My wife & I just purchased a 2002 310 Sundancer. I am looking for a canvas maker to fabricate a camper canvas to replace the aft curtain. I just saw the picture of your boat. Love the canvas! Did you have it made? If so, are you happy with the fit & finish?

Thanks,
Sea Ray 210 Select (Previous Boat)

Just wondering how many of the 2002 310 boaters updated to newer, or kept, there GPS (Raymarine RayNav 300 GPS)

My boat came very well equipped, but did not have a GPS. Installed a Garmin 188C Sounder that I already had. Even though it really does everything I need, I look forward to upgrading.

I do wish the helm was laid out better for electronics. The wood inset to port would be reasonable, but my shifters cover the area where the screen would be.

Oh well, I really do like the boat, though.

HI....have 4 questions.......

1.... My gauges on my on my control panel need help...

I cant read the gauges because of a white foggy.mouisture looking substance in the gauge lenses thats been there for days upon first inspection of our newly purchased 2002 310 ..The dash panel had about 12 screws.....if i unscrewed the wood panel surrounding the gauges would i be able to clean the lens?? or do i need to to replace them [the lens]

2....THe RPM left, and right, gauges are in the 1100 rpm position while in shutdown...will they go to zero upon startup and then advance????

3....The zippers on a few panels are separated and unable to zip..can only the zippers be replaced??? or do i need the whole panel/s...

4......The window over sink in the galley has a missing screen

would the whole window need replacing????

Thanks everyone......

Hi guys, Yes I love the canvas. I bought the boat in CT and it came with the new canvas. It was actually installed a couple of years before I bought it. It was made in RI.
Good canvas guys are hard to find and the good ones are usually expensive. But now is the time to get it done. They are not to busy this time of year.

I too am missing the gaskets on the engine hatch sides. I can see the adhesive tape from the gasket so I know something was there. Any luck on a new gasket/part number?

I just purchased a 1998 310 with 350 mag mpis and v drives.
I have a bouncing tach and burn more fuel on the starboard motor. Can anyone tell me approx cruising speed at say 3200 rpms I should be seeing ? Trying to diagnose if the motor is missing on one or two cylinders. The have 320 hours. I have to run at least 3200 rpms or she falls off plane .

How are you measuring fuel burn? If you run your genset, is there a chance that you gen pulls from the starboard tank?

Mine needs 3200 to stay on plane but I only have 5.0's

What speed should I be cruising at with twin 350 mpi v drives at 3200 rpms ?
I ask becase I think I have one weak motor maybe skipping , I get around 22 mph at 3200.

mid range depend on prop. Best way to find out is to test full gas on the water and look if you reach recommend max RPM on both engine

My genset draws from the Port tank, FWIW.

when I winterized, I found that only my Starboard hatch had the missing rubber gasket, port and main hatch were intact. I am not sure my dealer parts rep know what they are talking about, so it remains a mystery to me.

Cannot help with #1 as I have never had the problem.

#2: The tachs seem to stay in the last postion when ignition is turned off. I see this all the time.

#3. Yes. You can and I have had to replace the junk Great Lakes zippers with a more robust type form local canvas guy.

#4. Can replace just the screen. There is quite a few discussions on this forum that you can research with a Search command.
