The blue piece and the tube it is attached to, or something else in the picture? I have horizon 350s as well.

I'm relatively new to the Forum, but I believe that is the Fresh Water Flush Line for flushing parts of the engines with fresh water... Should have a female adapter that fits on garden hose, then it is a "quick connect" to that piece you see in the picture...the blue cap is supposed to be on there when not used...

I was thinking it was a fresh water flush too, but can someone definitively confirm and walk a newbie through the fresh water flush process?

It is the freshwater flush.
You need to look up the owners manual for your serial numbers on your motors.
There were 2 different kinds of flushing systems.
I believe the one you have is the same as mine.
You're supposed to close the seacock and take the blue plugs out of the manifolds and (without the motor running )
turn the hose on and flush for 15 minutes.
The newer ones can be run with the seacock closed and the flush port hooked up.
Depends where that flush hose is plumbed in.
If its after the raw water pump you can't run it.

Definitely the fresh water flush.
Here are my flushing instructions.
Note the fact you should not exceed 800 rpm, never more than 15 seconds should the water run without the engine being on.
Hope you can read this.
Also, closing the seacocks depends upon if you are flushing in the water or out for my boat.

In my setup, I follow the same procedure but, according to the manual, I must turn on the engine immediately after I plug the water hose into the flush manifold. Max RPM during flushing 1500. Engines: 350 MAG MPI (V-Drives), year 2001

How often do you flush?

The sooner the better! Ideally after each salt water use! Personally I flush it initially during winterizing and then every month (for maintenance purposes, during winter storage I try to run the engine for 5-10 min at least once per month).

what horn do I need to replace the original one on my new to me 2000 310 Da. and does this horn have a relay or is it wired directly to the switch.

There are a number of 12v horns available on the internet that are suitable replacements. I replaced mine and I don't believe there is a relay. The key is to remove yours first so yiu get one with the same mounting. The best way to access it is through the anchor locker.

Does anyone know the part number for an adapter replacement? I purchased my boat a few years back but dont know where to pick up the quick connect adapter for the garden hose. Does anyone utilize Salt Away or just plain water?
THanks,

Hello to all,

I am in the market for a 2000-2002 310 DA with I/O (will be on a trailer), and I would like to know from you guys what is your opinion on this boat in general. I mean I have read 1700+ posts in this thread :smt101 but I haven't found something I was hoping for, a pros and cons list from the owners of this model. Can you fine gentlemen, owners of the 1998-2002 310DA provide us, newbies of the 1998-2002 310DA, such a list with pros and cons?

Thank you in advance,

Nick

Good afternoon. My wife and I love our 2000 310 DA its a great boat for its size. Pro's- it manages very well in al types of seas and is comfortable in an out. Con's - owners mostly would agree space in the engine compartment when it comes to maintenance or repairs is difficult in areas. All in all great boat.

my 2000 310 Da. is a V drive with 5.7 is not any worse then my 230wk. was with one motor at least with the V dive the belt train is facing the back of the boat with no generator makes that a little easier to get to things.

I love my 310 best boat i ever owned.
It's big but not too big I think it's the perfect size cruiser.
The only con I have is the front berth I find it uncomfortable for sleeping.
I sleep in the aft cabin.
I have V-drives which is about 10 mph slower than the outdrive equipped ones but hey it's a cruiser.
You can get a trailer for a V Drive boat.
I owned a 290 with twin i/o's it was a maintenance nightmare I will never own an I/O boat again.
I would definitely look for one with a generator it's a great convienence and better resale when you sell.

Like my 310 so far. (Newbie) but one note... The 310 is 11' 6" beam (or thereabouts) this will require special permit to trailer in most states. I think something smaller (270/290) is more trailerable, but you give up something on the size.

We love our 2000 310. Ours has v drives and no generator. Pros: handles 3-4 seas no problem, about 1 mpg, good space below. Cons: outside engine access is tight, forward berth is suitable if you are under 5' 10" tall. Handling and maintenance are easier IMHO with v drives if you will be on the ocean.
