Official 1998 Sea Ray Sundancer 290 Thread

Hey Crew, not sure if I posted this earlier, was on the boat today and wanted to share my cockpit fixture. Plus I stressed the GenSet today after watching a blip from “Boating Tech Talk” on youtube. So warmed it up, turned on all the normal (for us) stuff. A/C, Outlets (need the ice maker ;)) Water Heater, battery charger. All good. Then engage the stove top, both burners and it didn’t like it. Turned off the A/C and all was good. So my reason for this part of the post is…is this normal as in the YouTube vid it says the generator is sized for 70-80% load. Sounds right to me, just thought I would check.
So I posted a bit ago on a new white cockpit faucet didn’t like it so put this in I like it much better.

Love this faucet, do you remember where you got it?

I did the same as you last year. More cup holders the better. Plus a cushion on the step is a extra seat for the girls

Has anyone changed out their head faucet to something a little nicer?

Mine is still functional but the little on/off slider is starting to leak when you cut the water off during a shower. If anyone has ever taken the handle apart and replaced "o" rings holler back.

Mine leaks as well and the flow isn’t quite what I think it should be. HD/L and AZ sell o-ring packs. I’m going to try that first before spending the small fortune to replace it. Shooting for next week. I will report back.

I'll look a little closer this week as well to see if anything is serviceable.

I have 3 other items on my todo list so far that rank higher.

Take the handle/shower head off and soak it in vinegar for a couple hour's

I really can't believe noone else make a more "stylish" or up to date head/shower combo.

It's not that they don't. I just know, for me, I would not be looking forward to smashing myself into my head to change out the fixture. So unless the faucet itself breaks finding ways to keep it functional is a plus.

Here's a knock off of the one that was in my newer Sea Ray that would make a great replacement for the 290's.

I have been searching and I have not found that one thanks I may actually get it lol

Anyone know if there is a way to get to the FW tank without removing holding tank etc?

If you do please tell us what we are in for when we tackle the job later on. I have a feeling there will be a need for some plumbing adapters to make everything hook up.

As per your request, I purchased and installed. Hahah. Was not that bad of a job. Few pointers if you decide to do it:

1) Finding a 1/2 MPT to a 3/8 Female Compression to go from unit hoses to the existing quick connect push lock fitting was impossible in store. So I ended up using the existing extension lines on the old unit that had a straight thread on the fixture side and the 3/8 female Compression on the push lock side, and got a 1/2 MIP to 1/4 FIP adapter. Although I wasn't a fan of not tapered thread to seal these connections with some pipe tape they didn't leak. If they start to lead i will most likely try to change out the Push to lock fitting so I can go direct to the fixture 1/2 FPT.

2) Make sure you make all your connection ABOVE the sink and feed them down, there is 0 chance you will be able to get both arms under the sink to use 2 wrenches to tighten these fittings. Even do the pull out line fitting from the top too, feed the line down thru the unit hole while its loose and then back up thru the hole and make the connection.

Everything else was straight forward only thing i need to do now is figure how to hang the shower holder "canted" so its not just spraying sideways.

That looks great.

I'm going to start judging the difficulty of a job with how many Advil I have to take afterwards. :D

BTW do you have an exhaust fan in your head?
