For the 98 290 which floor plan are you looking?

I've been sleeping on the couch here recently on my 290 because it's more comfortable. I have the "B" floor plan with the permanent birth vs the "A" floor plan that has the convertible birth.

We always slept on the v-berth, and not the mid berth. I am 5'-9" and slept on the wide side of the v-berth. Glad you are thinking about this, because the short v-berth was really the only shortcoming I found with the 290. But it does not look hard to modify the support frame to extend the length.
I seem to recall another owner removed the angled backing around the bow to add more length. We never used the area for seating, so this modification made good sense to me.
Good luck with the search, the 290 really was a great boat.

we also occasionally slept in the V but I spent a few nights on the sofa while the wife used the V, 2 year old in the aft.

I'm about 5'-11" and she's 5-7, we were a little cramped for space and I hated having to step over her if I had to hit the head. We had the A layout

LOL! I'm 6'4" so I bang my head on all everything down there.

The front weird shaped v-berth works for 2 adults. We put the filler cushion in and topped the cushions with a 3" memory foam mattress. It works, but I have to sleep on a weird angle. Honestly, they could have done a much better job with that design, but like I said, it works. I find myself sleeping on the pull-out couch which allows me to stretch out better.

I've been redesigning that in my head all winter and may remove that bumper material around the perimeter to give us a little more room to stretch....

Yes, your feet will hang off. I’m 6’1” and my wife is 5’9”, and we don’t really fit comfortably. I bought an adjustable table at Home Depot and we put that in the walkway with the pad for the cockpit on it, to extend the leg room. It serves the purpose for now.

    Good idea!

I took the bumper off this weekend and that definitely would add some room. Problem is, I would need to add a padded something to cover the ledge where the bolsters were fastened.

    Still designing...

Finally purchased the new knobs and rosettes from flounder pounder to get rid of the scarface gold. Anybody do this. Looking for best way to get old rosettes out. Thinking a 3/4 dowl from inside and just a slight tap. Suggestions

I pried mine out with a screwdriver. It destroyed them but I had no plans on reusing them. The new ones pushed right in. Run a razor blade around the flange or under it on the front side if you can, one of them pulled the laminate away from the cabinet on me

Yeah. Thats what i was afraid of. It will Only cost me $150 to bring it from scarface gaudy gold to brushed nickel. I pulled the small slider door edge off and painted it silver and working my way through

Could you post up some part numbers from your endeavor.

I have a few latches that don't work and I'd like to do what you are doing as well.

    Thanks

So i have done all my reaserch. I could not find the ones for the draws since they have to be made longer to be installed. The only ones i found were for the doors. The draws are double the thickness. So i opted to only replace the knob and rosettes. Found them all on flounder pounder. These are the part #'s for the brushed nickel. And also the entire peice. I will post pics of the process when i do them. Another unforeseen replacement this year is the fridge. It finally took a shit so i just ordered this replacement. Supposed to be a direct fit but it looks to be a bit deeper then the original. We will see when its here but already have a plan to just add some either teak or stainless steel to fill the gap Screenshot_20210325-154317_eBay.jpg

Fridge is installed. Its deeper then the original one was by several inches. Had to move the mounting bracket back 1 1/2 inches. Add a peice of wood to the inside of bottom for feet to sit on. Sticks out about a 1 1/2 more but works to have a larger fridge. 20210331_101255.jpg 20210331_101306.jpg

Just finished the knob and rosettes from gold to nickel. Easy change. If your doing just unscrew the little metal extension from the old knob and install on the new ones. Its only needed for the draws due to the length. I had to but them down about a 1/4 inch so they would lay flush. Nice improvement for only $150. 20210331_101326.jpg 20210331_112142.jpg 20210331_113841.jpg 20210331_113907.jpg 20210331_113920.jpg 20210331_113930.jpg

Thanks for showing your cabinets. I'm still surprised how different your late model 98 290 cabinets are to the early 1998 layout.

Hi, I just did this project on my 1998 290 and you need to take the microwave out and there are 3 screws underneath and then you can get to the fan and it is tight, but can be done. I had dirtdobber nests and etc in mine and I put some screen on the vent to keep them out. The fan needs to be what you see in the picture as it will fit current screws. Of course you may want to remove yours to confirm model. Good luck.

    Fantastic information.

I don't use my vent because it sounds like a coffee grinder. This might be a great rainy day job.

Always great information shared in this group.

    Thanks

So i finally pulled the trigger after about 2 years of research. Just ordered the aqua marine flooring. Cost was $1,490 including shipping. Having them send a motor hatch template because the picture does not show a table mount hole. Said i should have that in a week then send it back. Production is about 3 weeks and super excited for it. Stay tuned as i will post pics as i go. I chose the classic teak pattern in gray with black. A lot heavier than the old one aren't they? They are very efficient and quiet as well as a little more "roomy" They also don't freeze up like the old ones.
