Buster, titanium is what Sea Ray called it. If memory serves, storm grey should match up. But, yes, call Seadek to double check me on that.
Thanks Lazy I though it was stormy grey as well, but I will call.

Thanks Jim,

I was planning on installing veselview, I assume this will show me battery level? I am used to running windlass, refrigerator, radio, gps/fishfinder while at anchor, so maybe just paranoid and dont need a second battery.
I have a vesselview as well, in both of my boats. I mounted my cellphone on a Ram Mount right in front of the steering wheel. That app is the second best thing I ever bought for my boat.

The battery monitor on VV is probably the most accurate data available. Unfortunately, it stops recording data when the engine is off.

The newer radios use very little juice. All you need is a $3 digital 12 volt gauge plugged into your accessory plug and you'll get a real time view of your battery condition all day long.

I've been a boat owner for over 50 years and have owned many boats. The SPX has the least bow rise of any boat I ever owned. I would try it before I drilled all those nasty holes in the transom.
Is this what you are referring too when you said acccrddory plug?

Thank you for all your help and prompt replies.
I apologize I actually have not even seen the boat yet, just bought it online and need to wait until spring, I have not seen any pictures of a 2016 19 SPX that shows an accessory plug although I believe there is one on starboard side beside helm seat.

ACCESSORY Plug. Used to be a cigarette lighter. There is one at the helm, right below the Throttle lever, and another on the transom to be used for pumps to blow up tubes.

Your link to the Voltmeter is "basically" the thing I referred to, but its a bit on the expensive side because it also includes USB ports and a phone charger, which aren't really necessary. A simple version would fulfill your needs. If you need USB, there are ports for that already on the boat.

All of this was on the 2016 model as well? Cant seem to find any info on it. Guess I will have to wait until spring to confirm

BoatTest.com's review of the 2016 showed the same plug at the helm, but no USB ports. Where I have a second plug at the swim platform, the video showed a radio control in that place, but no plug.

Excited New SPX 190 OB Owner! | Order Just Placed | Couple Questions

Hi Everyone just ordered a new 2021 SPX 190 OB with a 150 Merc on the back.

We will trailer and keep on a mooring, does the motor trim up all the way out of the water??
I'm kind of panicking a bit not seeing any pictures of the motor trimmed all the way up and out. Wouldn't be great if stayed in the water for weeks at a time..

Second, how have you gone about rinsing the storage box and boat in general? Just hit it with a hose and let the bilge take care of it? I'm concerned about water just sitting in the boat, and know with all the beach chairs and gear we are going to put in there it's going to get pretty dirty.

Thanks!!

Congratulations!

and WELCOME!

WHERE aware you located?

YOU’RE GONNA ABSOLUTELY LOVE THAT MERC 150!!!!!!!

I can’t be of much help as far as rinsing the boat out as our boat is stored on a lift under a covered boat dock and my wife pretty much returns “her” boat back to showroom condition after each use. I’m being serious. (I’m told we are the only dock on our lake that has a shop vac mounted up in the rafters with a 12’ vacuum hose attached to it. :p

As far as protecting the deck per se (and because we opted to NOT go with any type of carpeting or any deck covering) I deep brush clean, wash and then use a specific ShurHold non skid deck wax on the deck once a year, every Spring and that makes it simple for her to go across the deck - only after each outing that might actually get the floor dirty - with a sudsy towel, followed by a rinse towel with clear water followed by a dry towel ...

There’re are a host of great how-to videos out there (just do a DuckDuckGo search [google no longer our friend] on “how to wax a non skid boat deck” and some good results return ...) here is one of the better ones:

Yes, the motor trims all the way up and out of the water. Now, if you keep a lot of weight in the aft storage area, it's possible a bit of the skeg would remain in the water - worst case, just paint/anti-foul the little bit that stays in the water.

If you're cleaning while in the water, be sure to use a mild/eco-friendly type soap. Even that, I would go lightly and just use fresh water by itself most of the time.

That certainly helps puts my mind at ease for sure.

So with the rinsing of the boat, you'd have no concern about hosing down the inside of the storage box (where the i/o would be)? It looks like marine grade wood in there, and that it just kind of drains down to where the bilge is. I'm used to my Whaler SS which is far more spartan that this boat, and I just hose the whole thing down and send it out the back.

North Shore MA - Salt Water
I'm pretty excited about the larger engine and have heard great things about it.

Sounds like your wife may be the person to ask about how she cleans / keeps the aft storage box clean!

I'm the same way, but I'll pull the boat every couple of week to clean it. My 05 Whaler still looks brand new. All these storage boxes are amazing, but I can see them just getting filled with sand and grime, so want to feel comfortable just hitting em with a hose / pressure washer and letting em drain, I just am not familiar enough with this type of boat / drainage / bilge systems to know if that's okay..

The lowest part of the lower unit should be at least 4 or 5" above the water. Of course, waves will get it wet. The bottom few inches of the mounting bracket WILL be under water.

After having owned fiberglass boats for 50+ years, and being well aware of rotten innards, I don't allow any deliberate water in the boat. Our last boat had a very small bilge under the I/O and it was easily accessible. The only water ever in there was when we were caught in a rainstorm. And then, I was mopped up before the boat was covered.

The 190 has not been out in a thunderstorm yet, so no water to have to deal with. When we first got the boat I poured a couple buckets of water on the floor just to test out the auto pump setting. The bilge pump is not accessible, and thus the size of the bilge compartment is not known to me. I can say, though, that after the bilge pump turns off, there is still a gallon or so water left. The transom drain plug needs to be pulled to get the last bit out.

The beauty of the storage compartment is that no water drains into it. If water is on the deck, there are hoses to take it right to the bilge. Thus, in our case everything in storage stays completely dry. If it ever gets dirty I'll just use a shop vac.

We also have a 150 Montauk with a non-skid deck. When sand gets in the bilge I just pull off the snap-in grate above the bilge pump and vacuum out the junk. I would be concerned with getting sand in the bilge area because there is no way to clean it out except going thru the bilge pump. I wouldn't want to have to remove screws and take out the compartment floor every year to ensure the pump doesn't wear out.

You made a good choice for your new boat. Hope you make many good memories.

Yes, you are correct. There is nothing to worry about with rinsing that area. It's all fiberglass and "plastic" wood. Do the same thing you've done with your Whaler.

Rot won't be a problem. After rinsing I would suggest leaving the hatch up to ensure it dries out fully. Otherwise mold may develop.

That's good insight.
The access to the bilge pump and area is a concern for me. I was thinking about creating my own removable access panel in the aft storage box, similar to what they do on the 210. That way I don't have to unscrew the whole setup every time I need to gain access. Feels like an easy enough modification to make, and a bit of a design miss on SR's part.

Congrats on the new purchase. I leave the bilge bottom panel not screwed down for this reason. I trailer the boat but I like to take it up to clean under it for all the reasons you said. If you do that make sure to fill the screw holes with 4200 (or similar) and put the screws back in the holes to seal them back up. It is a great boat. Enjoy.

That's a great idea.

Good to know that is an option, certainly a lot easier to turn the whole piece into the access panel, than to try and cut one out of it.

I'm guessing, once unscrewed, the panel just slides underneath the storage locker "walls", and you're able to take it in and pull it out without too much trouble? QQ - what do you mean by putting the screws back in? If I've sealed the holes, where would the screws go back into?

It doesn’t come in and out easy but not Hard either. I put the screws back in the holes so I’m not relying on the caulk alone to fills the holes Considering you will have standing water where the screws are.

I'm lost here. The idea of a removable panel was something I didn't think about. I may just go that route. But how can the screws be under water? The panel is way above the bilge area. Regardless, its all starboard or equivalent. So what if there is water in the screw holes?

Wouldn't cutting a hole in the right place and then using velcro to hold a larger piece down be better? If you leave the existing panel unscrewed it will rattle around in there. Plus, if you need to do some work, you have to empty the entire compartment. A small plate over the pump would be easier to handle.
