Can anyone confirm if a flat-screen TV 38.2" wide will fit on the open wall aft starboard? Thanks in advance, boat is an hour away and currently shrink-wrapped.

A lot will depend on the actual TV (trim vs display) and the mount you are using and if you want it centered or not. The closer you get to the panel door the more the height off the bulkhead will come into play. I have a 32 inch installed in that area and I probably could have gone a little bigger. I choose the 32 inch for a couple of reasons. I it was larger enough to be easily viewed even from the v-berth, 2) I did not want to get to close to with the companion way or the panel access, 3) I wanted to use a slim mount without the need for through bolting (which I was able to achieve based on the light weight) and 4) I wanted a DC powered TV to eventually tie into the boat (my TV was 19V and I can install up step up regulator).

This is my install write-up here: http://www.clubsearay.com/index.php...tv-on-2004-340-sundancer-bulkhead-wall.88100/

If you look at the pictures you could probably get a couple more inches on both sides.

In a follow-up to a previous post last month - I'm adding Bennett Automatic Trim Tabs to my 2004 340 DA. I just spoke to Bennett today and they recommend that I connect the helm tab switches to a circuit that is powered by the ignition so that when I have my batteries on and not the engines, it won't drain the battery - like when on a mooring. Does anyone have any insight on how to do that at the helm area? I'm familiar with the fuse block that's behind the dash where the GPS, radio and other items are easily added (as I've added items to that already). However I don't believe anything on that fuse block is ignition controlled. Any insight would be really appreciated! Thanks, Craig

I put a 43" Samsung LED (38.2" wide) there with no issues. I have at least 2 inches before the cabinet door would hit it.

This is the mount I used https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001M93YHO/ref=cm_sw_r_em_apa_i_HXSxEb03GBN9S

I did follow Kevin'sC write up as inspiration for the job

That looks nice! I purchased my 2004 340 DA in Aug of 2016 and it came with a 40" Samsung TV in that space and looks great. However - two things to think about. 1. Depending on what mount you use, the TV may get in the way of opening the power panel door. My TV is off center (pushed to the right) because of that. Still fits and looks good. 2. In 2018 I noticed that the bulkhead (made of wood and wrapped in foam and vinyl) that the TV is mounted to, was loose. I took the TV down off the mount and then drilled a bolt through the wood and into the rear of the Helm area (actually drilled from Helm area into the wood backing to make sure I didn't hit anything in the helm area). That secured the wood and all has been great since. I guess about 5 years (TV was installed in 2013 per the previous owner) of the weight vibrating underway was a little too stressful for how that wood bulkhead is secured at the factory.

How hard is it to run the cable for the new Garmin 18" Fantom radar on the arch? Was told that some of the aft cabin had to come apart to get to the firewall to drill a hole.

I secured the mount the same way as you did. I included the mount that I used. It is a slim mount. No issues with the power panel door.

From the top of the arch to the helm you do not need to go through the aft cabin. From the arch mount you can go forward to the area behind the storage pocket next to the helm seat. There is an access panel behind the cockpit seat below the arch mount. (The original wiring did go down behind the starboard cabinets but there is no need to run that path - When I installed my Quantum I wanted to remove all the old wiring but access there was limited so I left that section)

If you are replacing old electronics you can use the existing cable as a pull. If not you will need a fish tape/pole. I would install and leave a pull line in the arch for the future should you ever need it - just make it long enough that it can be pulled all the way in either direction.

That’s really a great idea.
