I asked the same question! There area few options on the Axion that will drive it up a bit but yes it is less. New technology plus competing with Garmin is my guess. I first saw the Axion at the boat show then West Marine. The employee at WM had said they think they will sell a lot of them.
I agree with sfergson, the older RM would not fit.

I was planning on upgrading to the SIMRAD NSS9 EVO3 but liked the GO9 XSE (size/price but would have had to give up networking). This device put that on hold for the time being. The Axiom 9 inch unit seems to bridge the gap and be inline with the GO9 pricing. I did not like that SIMRAD seemed to cripple the GO9 XSE to not support networking outside the Radar.

Ideally I would like to install two units in networked environment and tie to upgraded radar.

just had a go9 installed with radar, sounder, AIS VHF, fuel flow sensors and IS35 multifunction gauge, I am not sure what you mean that it does not support networking.

Networking would allow the radar to be displayed on either multifunction display connected (not just the one it is connected to) and the same would be true for the sonar transducer. Similarly upgraded charts (ie Navionics) would only be functional on the one unit that the card was installed in. Of course this would only be applicable if you have multiple MFDs installed.

The GO9 looks like a great unit, does support N2K connections (but would be limited to the data elements available there) and has already has Ethernet built in to talk to the radar (but is limited to that). Seems to me that since Ethernet was already built in that it would not have been difficult to support a hub/switch for networking to other devices. Maybe a software upgrade down the road will enable this.

A question regarding connecting to dock water. I understand filling the fresh water tank and having the water pump breaker "on" so that the hot water tank fills, as specified in the owners manual. Never have a problem. I have never used a dock water connection but the owners manual says to hook the lines up and turn water on at the dock, but do NOT turn on the water pump breaker. I assume this means that the water pressure from the dock connection will also fill the hot water tank and keep it full. Correct, or am I missing something? I don't want to burn out my water heater.

Ha anyone replaced the cockpit table with one from marine teak? I'm thinking about doing this just curious

Call sea ray customer service , they will give
the distributor that makes the factory teak table
, I did , ( sorry I don't have the info handy )
the factory table cost $ 175 , and $50 more
if you want the compass Rose why the Searay logo
In the center . There were two tables make sure you
measure yours to get the right one I believe
they can even put cupholders and that if you wish
Good luck Jim ,

Just the flat regular one. Nothing that folds. I did like the idea of the telescoping base so that I can bring the table down to like a coffee table height though. Also I would like to see some pics of the sea ray factory table mine I'll go that route

If you get the info from Sea Ray pass it along. It's not on the top of my to do list but would be interested down the road.

You will be buying the table direct from the distributor, not SR.

I find the factory table to be way too small. I should be able to modify the storage/holder to fit a larger table.
