Official 2003.5-2008 340 Sundancer Thread

I have 496 Mags with Bravo III - 1.03mpg, 26.9 gph and 27.8mph at 3320 and 1.27mpg, 4.8 gph and 7mph at 1250rpm. I only dream of getting 2.5mpg ...

Please note this number was corrected. I initially understood 2.5mpg, but I confirmed and its 0.5mpg. At one point it did say 2.5... Sorry!

Mercury branded full synthetic oil is the only oil that goes in mine.....I think it is 25w40.

Make that 20w40......

Question for you 340 owners. We are finishing up the first summer with our 03 340 Sundancer. I am curious how you either remove, or un-hook, your batteries with the electrically actuated engine hatch? I have gone through my owners manual and don't see a procedure for this situation. Please tell me there is a somewhat simple work around for this????

Thanks for your help.

A lot people use a jump pack plugged into the cigaret lighter to get the hatch down and them up again for recommisioning. I just took out my good bats and put in and old one I had so that I can throw the charger on and in 5 min I can raise and lower the hatch as needed.

Thanks for the tip! I was actually wondering the same thing as I am getting ready in the next few weeks to put my 06 340 Sundancer to sleep for the first time.

Pat...

I am looking for some sort of memory foam queen berth mattress topper for my 2006 340 Sundancer. Anyone know of dealer or website that has these?

We bought a King size 4" topper at Costco and used an electric knife to trim it to fit...worked great.
we got one made from this mattetess Co. http://portlandmattressmakers.com/. They send you a template to make from your berth and then send that to them. Was about $560 for a regular matteress topper. I am not sure how much a memory foam one was. I do think they have them. It was the best upgrade I have made yet, regardless of cost.

We put a king mattress pad on it - which more than wrapped around it, and then we used king sheets and tucked them around the topper and under the original mattress...

I cut it with the mattress inverted and on top of it so the mattress pad would have the same extended taper on the sides that the ortiginal mattress had.

That sounds like a plan. Thanks for the info. I think you just saved me about $500 from what I have seen online.

Did that same as carterchapman. ~$150 for a king 4" memory foam at WalMart. Cut it to fit in a single piece. Put it in place and put the original cushions on top. Much more comfortable sleeping.

Hey guys, looking for help on a fresh water leak, port side and it's dripping down onto my holding tank in the bilge. When I lay upside down looking up into a cavity with no access except 3x6 cutouts from below the only thing I'm seeing is the drain hose for the cockpit sink that drains over board, I don't see any fresh water supply lines running up in there. The water is actually dripping from the drain hose but it's not coming from the drain hose, when I turn the fresh water pump off the leak stops so pretty certain it's supply side. I'm stumped. Wondering if anyone else has had same or similar issue.

On the bed topic, I did the memory foam on top the first few years and while an improvement not like home by any means, last winter I ordered an innerspring mattress from these guys down below, wish I had done it the first year I bought the boat. $1400 delivered, not cheap but I sleep on my boat almost every weekend so well worth it to me. The do custom sheets for $250 but I just use kings and tuck in the extra. They can make whatever you want but I did 6" coil inner spring with 2" foam on top, it's as comfortable as my mattress at home.

Sounds like it mike be leaking down from the fixture itself, I'm no plumber by any means, but you might want to check that faucet head.

Check the pressure relief valve on the water heater, I had this exact same problem and had to replace it.
