Official 280 Sundancer Thread

Yes, although you have to have professional snap tool. These are about $100 to $125. Snapincarpet supplies the snaps loose and you install them. You may need to do template with your order, your 280 has a different configuration then the older models they have patterns for. They are good to work with and receptive to feedback.

On the snap tool you will find lots of use for it, and may soon be the most popular guy on your dock.

I bought the tool a couple years ago, and it comes in handy all the time -- to replace old snaps, add new carpet, installing new canvas etc.

Happy Spring! Anyone in the St. Paul-Minnepolis area willing to let me pattern there factory (or good copy of)280 Sundancer Cockpit carpet?

Thanks for considering!

I am getting the HI P5 error after ac runs for about 15mins and shuts down.
research shows the strainer and seacock might be the culprit.
I went down there and found the seacock in the position in the first pic (perpendicular to the pipe). This position stops water from flowing.
I took out the strainer and it was filled with gunk. I cleaned it and put it back.

I then switched the seacock to the position in the second pic (parallel to the pipe).
Can someone please tell me if the second position is correct. I assume it was perpendicular during winterization.
And should be parallel when dewinterized. Right?

You’re right with the lever positioning. I usually have to prime my ac system in the spring using a shop vac to pull water through the ac thru hull on the port side.

Thanks . I cleaned the strainer and opened the seacock and the a/c ran till I left the boat.
lots more to learn .

Just a fyi and a rule i always use. If i am gonna leave the boat for a couple of days i always shut all my sea cocks. No need to keep open and take the chance of a hose bursting. Takes 1 min to climb in, open cock and enjoy

Shop Vac is a great idea, never thought of that! I keep my boat on a lift and I often enough forget to close the seacock when I raise it, causing it to lose prime. Then if I want to run A/C at the dock, I can't unless I take it for a spin to force push water through the system.

I'll remember this tip!

An alternative is to push water through from the outlet using a garden hose...

Thanks, I've actually tried that one. But it never worked for me. Maybe I wasn't able to get a good enough seal on the outlet, or I don't have enough water pressure at the dock, but no luck with that method.

-Is it possible to change the A/C temperature from Fahrenheit to Celsius?
- Just curious on What kind of heating systems used in the A/C for the Sundancer. The hot water tank?
-Anyone added a smart tv replacement they can recommend?

F to C: Should be possible. Do you have an SMX or SMX II controller?
Heat is provided via a reverse cycle heat pump. The same system can cool or heat.
It's been a while...I think I changed to a 19" Insignia with a 12V DC input.

I use that as an opportunity to check all my engine fluids while I'm in there!

I want to ask what maybe a stupid question. We just purchased our boat, and I noticed that when going at decent speed the bildge is filling up with some water. Nothing that the pump can't handle, but it seems excessive. Doesn't happen when docked or at slow speed. Could it be a leaking drain plug? And if so, is it possible to do anything about it without taking the boat out of the water? Or my only option is to haul the boat out and replace the plug?

That is definitely not normal, best idea would be to run the engines in the slip with the hatch open to scan for leaks. Most likely culprit as stated above is a freeze plug or cooling water hose. If you can't recreate with the boat at idle, then I'd have someone come out with you so you can run with the hatch open to examine for leaks at a slow speed cruise on a calm day. You shouldn't have any water in the bilge, so something is definitely up.
