Official 290 Sundancer Thread

I did mine a few years back. A must is dynamat in the arch otherwise you will have an echo. Also I put the sub under the seat opposite the helm. I added 2 speakers halfway up the arch and a Rockford Fosgate AMP. Perfection....

Do you have pictures of the speaker/sub placement? Did you remove the old ones? Was it difficult to wire?

I will look for pictures...I have them somewhere but I sold the boat today and no chance to get more now. But...I left the existing in and hooked up, these were in addition to what was there. The sub is under and centered in the jump seat opposite the helm. The amp was put in the salon cabinet that is high next to the electrical panel in salon.

I did not do the job myself...all told it was 2K but worth every penny. The existing amp...the tech said he had never seen a smaller one, left it to power the 2 salon speakers.

Hi, member for a while 1st time post.
I’m in Australia and the 290’s are renamed 325’s for some reason. Love the boat 1st cruiser I’ve owned and have been slowly bring back up to spec over last 3 years. My question is at low cruising speed with both engines around 1300 revs I get slight harmonic vibrations. Being mechanically sympathetic I was wondering if this is normal or I may have a balance/ alignment issue. Probs are clean as recently out of water for summer preparations. Thanks in advance

325 is probly because the actual length is 32.5’
I. Believe if there was an issue it would be at various speeds

I get that with mine and thought there was a problem, run each motor by itself at 1300 rpm and you'll notice slight or no vibration from each, but when run together the harmonics come into play.

Thank you for verifying what I suspected I appreciate.
Great Forum already extending my list of nice to do jobs with some of the modification which have been done.
Next task replacing all internal light bulbs with LED's which I discovered on previous post,
Cheers People!!!!!!

Welcome.

I also have a few weird vibrations at lower speeds that seem to smooth out higher in the RPM range. I know I have one slightly bent prop and a transom that is worn out and wobbly so I've just been dealing with it until I can get scheduled for a pull out and repair.

If it doesn't get any worse, on your next major out of water service have it looked into. You can check props to see if they have been nicked pretty easy while still in the water. Calm waters and put the outdrives in trailer mode and lay on the swim platform. The props should be pretty close to the top of the water.

Thank you for your suggestions I'll certainly look at the Transom next time out of the water. I recently had out of the water for summer preparations and anti-fouled and re-prop speed the legs and props. I inspected the props and looked fine from my observations,
Cheers

I am about to order a trailer for my 2008 290 Sundancer. The general specifications are a 15,000 lb capacity aluminum I beam construction with electric over hydraulic brakes on all 3 axles. The question I have for all those 2006 to 2008 290 owners out there who have trailers concerns the total height of your boat on the trailer. I am trying to stay under 13 feet 6 inches. I was curious if anyone who trailers their boat is also under that height and, if so, what is your total height and would you be kind enough to share the particulars of your trailer? Also, please let me know if anyone has one for sale.

Did you ever order a trailer for your 290? If so how did you set the bunks up? If anyone has any pictures of their trailer setup for a 2006-2008 290 I'd really appreciate it! Thanks

I can’t provide any pictures due to the time of year boat one of my friends has a 2006 290 Sundancer and he has a tri axle Loadmaster trailer for his boat.
I have a 2001 290 Sundancer and also have a Loadmaster trailer. Originally my trailer was manufactured for a Baja 370 and adjustment of the trailer to custom fit my boat was very easy because of the adjustable bunks.
Both are used in fresh water exclusively and we have had no problems

Any 290 owners have photos of your stereo upgrades? Looking back over this thread there are a lot of posts but all the photos are gone. I am the new owner of a 290 DA and this winter I plan to do a few things including upgrade the stereo. Any before and after pics or tricks and tips would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Hello Navy canvas 290 owners,
I have a BRAND NEW set of OEM SEARAY isinglass for a 2006 290 navy blue canvas. Snaps have not been installed, this 5 piece set is 3 front and 2 sides. We have purchased a new boat and do not plan to install. $880 new
Will sell for $550.00 including snaps for installation. I believe the set will fit other years but would want to match up with S/R part numbers. Nothing better than new glass.

PM for more details

Thanks for the replies on my previous post. I would like to find spares for my windlass anchor. It’s a quick brand. I have uploaded photo. I can’t seem to see any serial numbers to identify the unit. Has anyone been down this road and have that info?
Thanks in advance

@Mark Wardle: I'm a bit confused what you want a spare of? You said anchor but took pictures of the windlass. You should be able to measure the anchor and find any delta anchor replacement.

Speaking of windlass: I have been having a terrible time getting my rope to chain splice to feed up through the windlass. It tends to bunch up as it makes it's last 90 degree turn down into the storage locker. We have gone through 4 or 5 attempts at splicing it to no success. Can anyone take some good pictures of their splice? I am curious if I can get some tips how its made by looking at it. I even emailed Quick regarding it since I wanted to order a new spring arm to see if that would help. They identified the pic I sent them as a Aster or Chrystal (the tops are the same). It looks same as yours. They said that the gypsy requires ¼” G43 chain and ½” windlass rope. They suggested I buy their chain/rope pre-splice which is guaranteed to work with their windlass. But at $465, I'm a bit hesitant. I'm going to try turning the rope around next, to see if the other unused end is a more pliable.
