Official 320 Dancer Thread

Thanks Highliner. I was shocked as hell to see that much water under a cushion. I dont recall exactly, but I think the shower sump hose runs through that area along the top. It looks like it should be a dry storage area because its separate from the bilge and has four sides and raised, like one piece moulded fibreglass. I cant for the life of me see how water from the head portlight would make it through to it.

I've never experienced it personally but I'm sure I've read something to that effect from several people on this site. It's possible I am remembering incorrectly.

I can tell you for sure that mine is dry in that area.

Sorry for the delayed
hello again! Not sure if you saw my previous post asking if you post some pictures of the solar surfstone on your boat? Haven’t been able to find any on any other site. Torn between the surfstone; flax; or black pearl.
response here. I will take some pictures and post them on here for you.

I am looking for some guidance and experience from the 320 Dancer Thread. I have a 2003 320 Dancer with Twin 350 MAG Mercrusier V drives. I just upgraded my old original equipment Raymarine chartplotter and radar to a Raymarine Axiom + 9" Multifunction display with 3D Sonar and Quantum 2 Doppler Marine Radar. My question to the thread is has anyone connected these engines to display the data on the Aixom+ display? If so can you please provide the guidance on how you did so? I thank everyone in advance for your assistance and cooperation on this matter, as it is greatly appreciated.

I did this exact thing two years ago. You will need to install a Mercury Gateway module and a NMEA backbone. Your current Vessel View unit and the Raymarine equipment will all plug into this backbone. From there it automatically connects and communicates with one another. The only issue I had was the fuel tanks were not configured properly but that turned out to be a setting in the Axiom unit. I also installed a Mercruiser item into the backbone that sends all the Vessel View data to my iPad, which is a kind of a nice feature.

Mike,

Thank you very much for the information I deeply appreciate it.

Here are pictures of the gauges and how you wire them. If you still have your owners manual and your wiring diagram it will identify the color of the wire for each gauge. You will have to cut off the 4 into one connector and add the individual connections that attach to the back of the new gauge. While these are not a match and they are not “book ends” like our current gauge clusters it is the best I could come up with. Plus if anything ever goes wrong you can at least get these serviced.
Did you ever complete this project? Id love to see a picture of the finished product

Does anyone know what hoses run through that area, I looked this weekend and there is a large one and smaller one

How dry does your hull stay? It seems as if I leave my boat Sunday and come back Friday when I step on the swim deck the bilge pump kicks on and spits out water for few seconds. Is this normal? Do my rudders need to be repacked? Any thoughts or ideas ??

A dry bilge is possible although it can take some chasing. If you are dealing with sea water the rudder packing is a good place to start and a fairly simple fix. It is easy to spot a leak here as well.

Pay attention if the water collects all the time, only after rain, when the engines have run, when the domestic water pump is turned on etc. That will help narrow the problem down.

Going to be mounting these under my arch has anyone else done the same looking to see how you mounted them did you put a plate on the inside of the arch to disperse weight?

any details would be appreciated
TIA!

And I discover another water incursion when winterizing in the fall. Pull up cushions in aft berth and the one on port side right behind the stairs had about a quart of water under it. It may have been there for some time since I never pulled that cushion and it looked to be a bit funky.

Had the same issue last year. Chased down several areas that people advised on this forum to no avail. Ended up that the leak was coming from my fresh water fill port. I had to put a bead of caulk to fill the gap between the fiberglass and metal. If you can remove the three screws on your water fill and pull the flange up a little, you can re-bed the fitting with marine caulk. Hope this helps.

Appreciate it rum runner. The other issue I have is the shower sump, not that we use the shower at all, but the AC condensation end up there. It seems the pump in the box turns on when it should and runs but there seems to be a resistance in the out flow and when it shuts off, water flows back in to the box, to maybe a 1/3 full. Like there is some blockage down stream. Does that sump drain hose go toward the stern?

I think it goes almost straight out per the drain on the port side of the boat. I clean mine often and replaced once, but it always has ac water in it. Mine also gets stuck on and again needs a cleaning. Like you, no showers!

I have also noticed water under the cushion you mentioned. Still trying to figure out the source. My theories are: something getting in from the fresh water fill hole, a small leak with one of the spots where the grab rails attach to the hull, or perhaps a leak from the cockpit ice maker (I had a small leak) although that would be surprising.
Will let you know if I figure it out.

Hello, new to the Sea Ray club. Upgrading from a Larson 290 I/O's to a 2003 320 V-Drive, Fresh Water cooled, 2 New Short Blocks. Spent many a nights on the Larson and looking to do the same on the 320. Going over a list or projects and would lover to hear thoughts from others. Will be going through the entire thread may take some time.

Plan to add a mattress to topper to the v-birth. Any tips on bedding? Anyone use the topper to extend the mattress in any way?

Will be removing the tube TV and use the space for something. Thinking either Wine Racks or Ice Maker and Keurig.

Would like a folding table for up top to make smaller and easier to get around when not needed. Anyone have something similar, please to pick up?

Canvas may be good for a few years but would like to convert from Tan to Black. Had Tan on the Larson and was tough to keep clean. Are there online places to purchase standard replacement (camper back) or do you need to do custom.

No Smartcraft gauges are installed. Worth adding?

Was consider replacing RL70C display but researching it briefly may have to change the entire setup (radar included) and not just the display.

Would love to remove carpet downstairs and replace with teak. Looks like a big job though. Will keep researching.

Im sure we will have more questions. Looking forward to reading the entire thread. :)
