Official 320 Dancer Thread

Checked out a 2004 320 in salt water - from the survey recently performed (verbal from boat agent)
1. Has two brand new (not rebuild) 383's
2. Generator puts out plenty of power but surges when running. Agent thought it would be the carborator needing replacement.
3. Trim Tabs do not work
4. ALL gauges are intermittently operational - unreliable
5. All interior carpeting need to be trashed and replaced (synthetic flooring)
6. All storage compartments are clean and no sign of water sitting
7. Cosmetically need lots of tender loving care. Nothing damages. Just been sitting without cleaning or owner's attention
8. Asking $99,000 on west coast

So, here's my multipart question - Before I make an educated offer, I'm seeking input from this very experienced and giving crowd of 320 owners:
What is your GUT feeling about what the POSSIBLE costs might be for repairing/replacing per the above list?

As an example: Hard to believe that if all of the gauges are only working intermetently that there isn't a "common" issue/problem available to fix all of them. Bad main ground, loose contacts, etc. Agen't understanding is that these are the original gauges. Maybe even the trim tabs not working could be a part of this/these malfunctions.

I see about 6000-7000 in repairs.

Add in the complete detail - 2500

Oil changes, filters, fluids - 1500-2000

If that's what it needs, I bet you're all in it for minimum 10k.

Splashed on Friday and made the 2+ hr trip to summer marina. One issue I had was the raw water pump has a small leak behind the pulley causing a flinging of seawater around the eng room. Looks like I need a new impeller housing. is there any tips or tricks to get to that pump and remove the housing or do I have to remove the whole assembly. i dont have to tell you guys its tight down there, do i remove the exhaust tubing for easier access, ETC?

DO any of you guys know how to remove the speaker panels in the vberth, just ahead of the storage areas? Im looking for a leak that is causing a stain in that area.

Sure do! And its your bow rail stantion leaking. Ive been down this road

They are actually screwed through the face then the fabric is tucked behind. Not sure how they ever did this. Its easier to cut it off and remove the screws then recover with a new fabric of your liking. I carefully lined everything up and remounted with xmas tree fasteners. Next time i can just pull them off

If you feel around for the screw heads through the fabric you can get it off with a screw driver carefully poked through the fabric. I think that's how it was installed. Doesn't appear any of the screw hols are in the same place.

Next time it rains or grab someone with a hose. In the back of the cabinet, next to the speaker, unzip the vinyl and reach back in there and up and you’ll feel the three screws for the bow rail. Water drips off of those and runs right to the corner where that speaker is

I did see the one rail mount inside the zipper hole. Someone in marina said check your anchor locker for stress cracks, so I emptied the line out and there were some cracks at the bottom that looked like they could be a problem, but that would prob run down lower in the hull and not show at the head of the Vberth you think?
So what is the exact procedure for correcting the rail seal issue if it is in fact that. Do you need to do two or three at a time to be able to lift rail? . Loosen the nuts and lift the rail to get under with a clean up and a new coat of 4200?

You can do one at a time. I was able to lift and slide it out of the way on a towel and clean things up. I will be working my way around the boat this summer finishing the rest. I figure one a weekend. I used 4000 for the UV resistance.

Two person job. Someone needs to hold the screws outside while you take the nuts off the inside.

Thank you Shenanigans, I was wondering what the play was on each mount point. So what is the maximum pressure you put on those screws/nuts? Super snug, i wouldnt want to over tighten and cause spider cracks

I am trying to run NMEA drop cable from the stereo to the helm. Any secrets on where to run the cable?

Hello folks. Im at the boat today and get things in order and stocked. An issue arrose with the head when the wife flushed. There is a super strong odor of bad tank smell everytime we flush. Aside from the filter unit what else should i check, the vent on top? Plumbing parts. What is that vent on top for, pump out sucktion relief.

I have a 05 320 and just started getting a bad smell from outside the boat when toilet is flushed. Tank was empty besides some water and treatment. Do you by happen to know what kind of filter it is? I forgot to look before we left. Would like to order a new one to have when I go back later this week. Thanks

Welcome to the Club 320!

I wanted to just mentioned i removed the back padding that goes around the bed and added a KING topper. I
gained more space and now its so much more comfortable to sleep in with my wife.

I'm interested in doing the same, how are the bolsters connected and how did you remove them? Thanks

On my 2006 320 I have an angled refrigerator in my cockpit, does this one fit in that same space? Thanks
Yes. To be clear In the cockpit I believe you need the NR740. The 51 would work for the cabin. I need to replace mine as well only because it’s LOUD.

Has anyone recently replaced both raw water intake hoses from seacocks to the strainers? One hose is longer than the other. Do you know what total length is of both hoses? I am trying to order some and I'm not near my boat.
So anyone who has nothing to do, would you mind going downstairs and measuring the two hoses? ;);)
