Official 330/350 (2008 and newer) Thread

I am considering a 2011 350 Sundancer with the standard engines 377 MAG ECT Bravo III sterndrives. I will be using the boat mostly in Tampa Bay and may take some trips up and down the Gulf Coast. Will the 377 MAG engines provide adequate power?

It depends on what your definition of adequate power is.

Will the boat plane out and cruise? Absolutely.
Can you find a sweet spot where you are doing a good speed and burning about 1GPM? Yes.
Can you cruise and not over work the engines? Again, yes.

Will it plane as fast as the same boat with bigger engines? No.
Will you win any races? It depends what your opponent has.

It all depends on what level of performance you are looking for. In my opinion, yes that power combination will be just fine.

I had a similar boat with 8.1 shafts. I would have to assume that the B3's would make up enough of the difference to keep that boat's performance comfortable. Of course, I wouldn't buy a B3 boat for saltwater use but that's a whole different conversation.

Talking to the dealer here in Florida, they are tell me that there is no problem with Stern Drives on boats that are stored on lifts.

I agree with BBT's comments. Mine has 8.1 with V drives so I'd think yours with the stern drive should be fine power-wise. Handling will be a bit different, but I don't think you'll see too much difference in the way of performance. As for the BIII in salt, you are in a much better place if you're on a lift for sure. Still a bit more maintenance to concern yourself with each year but the corrosion issue is pretty much a non factor if you're lift kept most of the time.

Thanks. I have been looking for a 330/350 Sundancer for awhile. They don't stay on the market long. By the time that I contact the broker, the boat is sold. Hopefully, the survey goes well.

That's because they're great boats! But then again, I'm a little biased. Hope the survey goes well and happy boating!

Since you said you're looking for a 330 or 350, my old boat is listed w/ MarineMax right now. It's a 2010 330 in Connecticut. Boat is in great shape and perfect condition. We just wanted something bigger. Let me know if you want some more details.

I will know better after the survey. Thanks

The bilge is cleaner than those pictures would make you think. she's a great boat, just a little small for my family. What would you like to know about the boat? If you want, send me a PM and we can figure out a time to talk. (Kiloil, you too)

The broker we worked with was fantastic, his name is Keith Abel. Very honest and helpful guy.

I took another look at the 2011 350 that I am considering. There are deep scratches in the gel coat (2-3 feet long), rub rail is banged up, fiberglass behind the rub rail is gouged very deep, the scoop on the side of the boat is cracked and the gill thingy on the rear side has separated from the hull at the top. This all on the same side of the boat, starting just above the square window in front and going back to the rear. My concerns are is this just cosmetic or could it be an indication of future problems. If just cosmetic what would be a good estimate of cost to repair?

No idea about the costs, but it sounds like the previous owner hit something. I'd question what else they hit, and how they treated the boat in general.

Your boat looks great; however, it will be too small for me. I am very tall. I tried the 330 and it is too tight of a fit. Thanks.

Smiling Monkey, I actually have a deposit on your old boat (just PM'd you). I was looking seriously and torn between two boats, your old 330 and a 2008 350 that has V-drives at MarineMax in Hingham, MA.... it's between the two. On one hand the 330 will be cheaper in summer and winter storage fees and more efficient to operate but on the other hand the 350 has a lot more room and is a larger boat. Im worried if I go with the 330 ill want to move up to a larger boat too quick. Idk, anyone have any insight on this. The 350 is listed here...

The 350 looks like a LARGE boat at over 37' I think?? http://www.boattrader.com/listing/2008-SEA-RAY-350-Sundancer-102882981

I'm obviously slightly biased, but in this situation I would go with the 330. The 350 is two years older w/ almost twice as many hours, plus it has V-drives. I know lots of people swear they would never go w/ outdrives, but once you drive a boat w/ Axius, you'll see the light. (In the end it comes down to personal preference in regards to drives.)

On top of that, I never trust a boat listing that doesn't show a picture of the engine room. What are you trying to hide?

Does anyone know the part number to order or where to purchase replacement stainless steal bilge vent covers that are normally installed on the newer 330s? View attachment 47788
