Official 330 Express Cruiser / 340 Amberjack 1997-2003 Thread

Let me start off saying I love my boat. But I would love to have a cruise speed of around 28-30. I was just curious what setup would that entail? I would guess it would have to be diesels I’m just curious if anybody has seen those types of numbers in our boat.
I've gotten into that range (if you are talking MPH) at around 3,800 RPM's, but I'm in tidal water (SF Bay) so that's probably going with the tide. Around 24 going against.

Update! I found it at Boat Outfitters, listed as "Sliding Door and Window Stop" but it appears to be the same thing with same dimensions. https://www.boatoutfitters.com/064-3016-sliding-door-and-window-stop
Update #2 - the part I ordered will have to be modified as the hinge is too "loose" and will not stay in an upright position when recessed under the seat. The original part had a "stiff" hinge which held the "stay" arm in place against the underside of the seat when not in use. So back to my original ask, any idea where to get the correct part?

Diesels would do it but if you wanted to get close to that with gas motors I would go with 502's or 454 stroker to 489 both built for torque not HP

Does anyone know where to get the hinges for the fold down cabinet inside the cabin just above the electric panel?

Does anyone have helpful advice on how to remove the bolster on the helm seat of a 2001 340 AJ?

You need to remove the bottom cushion and it is screwed in from the bottom. you have to remove the seat to get it off. if you remove the bolt from the electric ram that moves the seat it should slide all the way forward and disengage from the slides. Really a 2 person job because it is HEAVY.

I bought my boat as a total project so I have removed just about everything on it at one point...
I don't know that you want to get into it, but it would be a perfect time to reupholster and replace all of the rotten wood in the seat bases. That's what I had to do.

Hey everyone, I'm new to this forum as I'm looking to upgrade from a Bayliner Trophy to an '01-'02 340 Amberjack this spring. I primarily troll for salmon on Lake Michigan but the wife loves cruising as well. I think the Amberjack will suit us very well. Question I have is, for those of you who have the 8.1 Horizons and fish, is it difficult to idle down enough to troll at 2.0mph? I guess the same applies for the 7.4's too. I don't have a problem using a drift sock off each side of the boat while trolling...more so curious if I can get by without using them. In terms of longevity/durability, are the 8.1 Horizons a better motor than the 7.4's?

Thanks in advance!
-Eric

No issues going slow on a 370 as long as you only run one motor....I've had both motor setups. I prefer the 8.1's!

I have an ‘01 with 7.4’s. I troll primarily for Salmon on Lake Ontario. I’m not able to get down to trolling speed without a bag. I only use one 48” bag and hang it off the side the engine I’m trolling with. It gives you much more control.

I'm looking for a company that has the pattern for seadek type flooring for either 330 ec or 340 amberjack

Thanks

Has anyone changed out these engine room lights for LED’s? Are there LED versions (same size) available?

I just ordered some cheap LED's. very basic wiring. they may not last, but at the price they give off MUCH BETTER lighting than the factory incandescent. 2 years installed without issue and barely a battery drain if they accidentally get bumped "ON" from the switch at the transom.

Perfect, my switch at the stern gets bumped all the time, so the lights are left on often. I will change to these lights and and figure out a guard for those switches at the stern.

There is a post further up in this thread regarding a guard for the transom switches. Page 38/39 i think?

further up in this forum from April 2021? a company in Panama City Florida has the pattern.

June 2021 page 34. If you haven't read the whole thread for this model it's worth the read. LOTS of good ideas shared for our model!
