Official 330 Sundancer Thread

Doing a few spring projects this year, I feel like I'm in such a rush all boats have to be in the water by April 28 due to the boat shares the parking lot with the restaurant.

So I started installing trim tabs indicators system. Replaced my through hull transducer. I rebuilt the two seawater pumps, the marina said remove the fuel pumps to see if the gear oil is contaminated. I have mechanical fuel pumps that run of the same belt for water pumps. so when I opened them both up the stunk of fuel so I had to replace those pumps. hoping to get it all installed tonight.

happy spring everyone
Saverio,
What did you get for a transducer ? Was it a direct replacement, easy install ? I want to replace mine soon and install a nice plotter where the radar is, as it is old and have only used it once in 5 years.
Never heard that about the fuel pumps. Has anyone else ?
I have replaced the sea water pumps, but really didn't think about the fuel pumps ( They have never given me any trouble )

Thanks that makes sense! I guess somehow they are bonded to the large transom anode. Boat is on the trailer, leaving MD as I type this!
When I bought my 96, there were zinc's on the shafts and it was always maintained by a large Se a Ray dealer? I have noticed that they do wear, so I assume they are doing something. I have replaced them.

Hello All,
Just had a survey done and the surveyor noticed a few things that concern me. Wondering what people have found with other 330's and what people have paid or tried.
- He said that the moisture readings in the stringers under the engines seemed higher than normal, but sounded good ? The transom and surrounding area were normal. I really never get water in the bilge for any period of time. Has anyone ever been told this ?
- He also noted that cutlass bearings should be replaced soon. I think I will probably do it next season as launch date is fast approaching. What have people paid for getting these replaced ? Has anyone attempted/done these themselves ? I was a mechanic for years and sure I could probably do it, but don't want to get in over my head and beg someone to fix something I screwed up. I know I hated when people came to me like that.

One last thing, I should give the bilge a good cleaning, I am a little concerned about using some of the solutions out there and letting the bilge pump dump it in the lake. I know my marina won't be keen on me doing it in the parking lot. What has been peoples experience with these cleaners ?

Update from Dave T. - Just had a survey done for insurance, and the surveyor also said they really shouldn't be there. So I will pull them off.

You are in fresh water so you should not need shaft zincs. If they are pitting, that is not a good sign. Its possible there is some issue with improper bonding or an electrical issue on your boat, in the water at the marina, or with a boat neighbor. How does the main anode zinc on the transom look? If the boat was in salt water before you bought it, that would explain it maybe.

For comparison, the transom zinc on my boat is the original one (20 years old) and is barely pitted. No plans to replace. I don't have shaft zincs.

My bilge was grimy when I bought my boat. I sprayed it down with spray nine and used my pressure washer. it cleaned it up bigtime

Saverio
What is spray nine? And weren't you power wash spray getting on the electrical connections?
Thanks
Steve

Steve spray nine is a cleaner. they have a marine version at home depot or simple green. I sprayed the fiberglass under the engine and where the bilge pumps not the engines. you can mist them with the hose not the high pressure washer use dawn also it breaks up the oil

Be very careful if you use those purple degreasers on the boat. They are very strong and will eat some plastics and vinyl. They will destroy (fog) isinglass too. Simple green or fantastic spray are all you need really. Simple green is biodegradable too. Fantastic with bleach version is great for getting mild and mildew off vinyls too. But avoid the stitching if you can.

So Rusty gave me so info about my boat and I cant believe it.

It was bought new in Michigan.. which I didn't know

if I look at the back where the name would be I can see ghost lettering

it says Daytona Beach FL

I purchased the boat two years ago on Long Island NY

when I bought it, it was at 480 hours

I am also updating electronics and need to replace transducer. Airmar makes a tilt 12 degree thru hull for boats with 8-15 degree dead rise and a 20 degree for hulls 16-24 dead rise. I think our dead rise is right about in the middle 15-17degree. Has anyone installed a thru-hull transducer? If so what degree did you use?

started compounding above rub rail today. used "presta super cut" , by far the best product ive used yet , and ive tried almost all. all the area was in a very chalky state , as in not "brought out" in probably more than 5 years. used a radial machne with foam cutting pad from harbor freight. I also started the port side hull below the rub rail with starbrite cleaner wax and DA machine after scrub down with soft scrub. all in all , not bad for 23 yr old fiberglass. need to finish cabin sides next.
