Official 330 Sundancer Thread

My stereo Clarion CMD5 is crapping out. Anyone have any good recommendations for replacements on my 2008 330DA? Got a recommendation/quote from local installer for $3400 with half of that installation. Includes head unit, wired remote, amp, subwoofer and 4 speakers. Would like to hear what others have done and are enjoying! Thanks! New owner here!
dam I would get more quotes that's insane you can get top of the line component's for about $1800

Hello, New to the forum and My 1996 DA, Looking to find replacement knobs for the stove. The generic kit from lowes was a no-go, so I'm looking around again. This is pretty much all I have left to do on the boat. Well that, add radar and replace the stereo.

The stove is a 841726 STOVE, ELEC 2-BURNER BEVELED COOKTOP 110V

Anyone know where to source a replacement or what else might fit?

Thanks

anybody recommend a close as possible direct replacement for the OEM searchlight? I get the horizontal motion , but no vertical. when I first bought the boat I had to free it up and got it to work. I exercised it well and sprayed some lubricant in the workings. for some reason , not it wont go up and down anymore again.

Just did this on my boat. Vertical was trashed. No chance of working. I’d check the switch first to make sure it’s not the problem. There are two 10amp fuses. One for verticals and one for horizontal. Check those first. If it’s not then you can replace it with a Jabsco (same as OEM) for around $200. You can just match the colored wires up in the front and use the same switch.

Just bought a ‘98 330 Sundancer. Loving it so far. Awesome boat. Couple of questions. Why is the sweet spot operationally for rpms in cruise? Ie what rpm for best fuel economy. I filled the water system up and the filter keeps plugging up with fine black junk. Assuming it’s mold?? What’s the remedy? Horn doesn’t work. Need to determine if it’s electrical or the horn. Is there a direct replacement? That’s all for now. Lol. Thanks in advance. Great forum!!

For me and all of the crap i have on my boat, 3400 - 3500 RPMs will keep it on plane with the bow down in the Lake Erie chop.

As far as the water system, you are going to have to mix bleach with water, pump it through the system and let it sit for hours. Then flush the heck out of it for the next several days.

I found a replacement for my horn on Ebay. Make sure the mounting bolt separation is 4.5 inches.

My family is looking at 1998 330. It has twin 5.7's I noticed a lot of the posters on this thread have 7.4's Can anyone comment on performance of the 5.7's?

thanks! are the fuses in the switch housing itself?

This has been discussed in this thread before. Do a search. Will be slower, noisier, less fuel efficient at cruise, harder to sell. But may be ok if you got it at a really good price and don’t have a need to cruise at 30mph. IMO small blocks are not great in our era 330s.

Can anyone share best practices for using the SYNC button on the throttles? Much appreciated 2008 330DA Twin Merc 7.4s

finished up the house bank installation. replaced the original charger with a new promariner 30a smart charger. replaced my isolator with a 3 bank / 2 alternator unit. finally finished wiring up the 6v house bank in proper configuration , and added a separate dedicated starting battery for port side.
so now, I have the 6v house bank on its own switch feeding the panel , I have 1 battery for each engine for starting alone on its own switch (under the seat - ). all 3 banks charged from the charger and alternators.
when I recover from this , im going to wire a 1500 inverter from the house bank into the existing generator feed to the ac side of the panel (gen removed by PO). this setup should get me plenty of juice without affecting my starting capability.

Hello,
I've just started looking at 1997 to 1999 330's and immediately discovered that there is a huge difference between a 330DA and a 330EC. It seems the EC is two feet wider than the DA but has less LOA. I like the appearance of the DA con more than the EC con, but that is strictly personal taste. What I'm having difficulty determining is which is considered the more upscale of the two models? Better yet, what are the philosophic differences in design between the two models? Is the EC more of "working boat" than the DA? I see the EC only comes with one gasoline engine choice while the DA offers three gasoline engine choices with two different drive choices.
I'd love to hear from owners of each type relating why they chose the model they did, what the pros and cons of each are compared against each other, and recommendations on options to look for - is the V drive better than the stern drive?
Thanks in advance for taking the time to educate me concerning these two craft.

So I consider the 330 EC a "poor man's" Tiara. Very similar to their Open design - good fishing vessel. I love the wide beam and big a$$. I love the straight shafts. I would get one, but the Admiral wants the "nice seating." The 330 DA has the more "refined" cockpit seating. The cocktail table, u-shaped lounge, sink, etc. So that's why I'm look for a 330 DA. Happy wife, happy life.

No aft cabin berth in the EC. So less sleeping places or storage. Much larger cockpit area though..

Looks great. Separating the house does make some sense. Is it charged in any way while underway?

Some thoughts:

You should get a larger inverter than 1500. I would go with 2000 or 3000. 1500 is too light for the microwave. Don't mount it in the bilge. I mounted mine in the back of the cockpit storage compartment right above where you batteries are. I built a mount for mine and installed it in that storage.

I also slightly rewired my panel. I moved the "outlets" breaker and wired it to a spare spot on the same 120v bank as the microwave. So now I can power that one side (the one without the AC) and get the outlets and the microwave, which is all I really need. I have not hard wired the inverter to the 120 yet so I just use a shore power cable from the inverter to the one side of the shorepower input. (Its on my list of projects to get done this summer)

yes , I put in the three bank / 2 alt isolator which ties in the alternators to all three banks. as for a/c load for the inverter, I would probably only be using TV / dvd and occasional microwave / blender. although I do have dual voltage tv , they are all plugged into the ac outlet in that compartment.
