Official 330 Sundancer Thread

Hi everyone. it’s been a while, because everything on the boat has been working!!
I do have a small a/c issue these days:
My drip pan has seen better days…it’s rusted and some debris is loose.
I think the drain for the pan is clogged, as the pan keeps filing up and I have to empty it with…yes…a turkey baster.
The drains is quite hard to reach…any ideas on how to unclog it?
Thanks!!
Use a shop vacuum and suck it from the drain hose where it empties into the shower sump box in the aft floor compartment. If that doesn't work, you may be able to use a fiberglass electricians fish tape and run it up from the sump box to clear the clog. once you get it clean you can perhaps take the AC unit out temporarily and use some liquid rubber paint to paint the inside of the drip pan and stop the rust for a while.

I am looking at a 1997 Sundancer 330, The title says it is 31' 6". So is a 330 really 33 ft.

does anyone know where the galley blower motor is on a 08 330?

Greetings all -

Everything has been running great so I have been off the site for a while...perhaps I should not have said that... The a/c unit in my 330 says AC LO. I suspect it is an electrical warning as opposed to a refrigerant notice. Has anybody dealt with this problem before? If so, was there a fix?

Not sure if this will help, but normally what A/C says ACLO is because you have it set at the coldest setting possible. Maybe try upping the thermostat a couple of degrees.
Here’s the manual for the unit (or maybe one a couple of years older than yours) and maybe this will help.

Thanks for that. I guess I could have given more information. My DA is a 1998. I usually set the AC to 80 when I leave the boat. Whenever I return to her it says AC LO. This also happens when I am on the water running on the generator.

Also, I need to replace the original refrigerator in the Salon (can't believe it ran this long). The Novakool 5810 is no longer an option. Neither is the Vitrifrigo C11 that many have talked about. Does anyone know the correct replacement refrigerator?

Thanks in adavnce

Hello everyone.
First time Sea Ray owner here. My family and I have had trailer boats forever! Finally, this season, we invested in the dock life. Our new to us 1995 330 Sundancer is equipped with twin 454's and V-Drives. Three immediate questions that I couldn't seem to find answers for elsewhere here on the forum (it's also huge and I may not have seen it but I am skimming as much and as fast as I can).

1. Fuel Burn
My research shows that all things being equal, I should be at 3800 RPM and 34.8 GPH. That should be a combined fuel burn not per engine, right? I'm in AZ and on a lake (duh) so no major off shore swells and so forth to fight. That should equate to about 172 miles? We drive 5 miles from point A - Point B every Sat & Sun, tie up, drop anchor, and socialize for 6-hours. Rinse and repeat.

So, at $4 a gallon, my 225 gallon (combined) tanks * $4 gal = $900.
172 miles total (running them dry in theory) / 10 miles per round trip = 17 trips or 9 weekends.
$50 per day in gas going 5 miles there and 5 miles back.
Does that sound right? Are there GPH burn charts for this year boat and set up somewhere I can find?

2. Fuel Burn Gauge
I see on some of the newer models they have computers that do this like a car. Has anyone purchased one aftermarket? How much? How much of a pain in the a** is it to install? I'd love to know this information as opposed to just showing up each weekend hoping I have enough gas to come home with.

3. Trim Tabs
I have trim tabs. They go up and down correctly. I don't have a gauge telling where they are so I guess. Hold the button for a long time hoping they are deployed down. The hold the button on a long time hoping they come back up fully so when I back up into my slip I don't rip them off. After market gauge? Pain in the a** to install?

Thanks guys and someday I hope to know enough to help contribute. We've owned DOZEN'S of boats over our lifetime and this is a new animal for us. Can't take it home, put it on the side of the house and tinker. The 19' Yamaha is in the garage and is a breeze to work on...with a beer...and the tv on.

Hey Rosson,
I replaced my salon refrigerator back in 2012 with an Isotherm. I have been looking for the model number… when I am back on the boat I will check it out and let you know.

I needed to trim it out as seen in the attached.

Your fuel burn is about right. Keep your tanks closer to full and you won’t worry about running out on short trips like that. Best cruise should be about 3400 rpm and 30mph. It’s almost impossible to change the fuel usage much. It’s gonna suck fuel if you use it.

The best thing you could get for the tabs is Auto Tab Control. Bennet or another maker. Visual indicators are a pain to install but I would not waste time or money. Does it really matter what setting they are? You trim by feel and conditions. The ATC is good though. Turn it on and it holds the boat level automatically.

Here’s a nifty little website with a lot of data on gas consumption for different motors.

Fuel burn - I've been tracking my fuel since I bought the twin 7.4L MPI 330 in 2013. My average fuel burn is 13.71 GPH total and average MPG is 0.90. That includes many short 7 mile round trips and a once a year 106 mile RT lake crosser. So, for me, a 10 mile round trip would cost about $44 @ $4/gallon. Check this thread.

Fuel burn Gauge - I've had my eye on the Fox Marine Engine Gateways. With my MEFI-1, I think they will interface with my Garmin GPSMAP 740s via NMEA 2k and calculate fuel burn. Not exact but can be played with to get close. However, I think fuel injection is necessary. Otherwise, look at the Garmin GFS-10 Fuel sensor or Floscan systems.

Trim tabs - I mainly use them to counter load shifts. Once in a while I'll put the nose down if in rough seas or running slow, or trim them up to see if I can squeeze a bit more MPH out of the same RPM. Overall, I don't touch them much. I'm on a hoist but never have to adjust the tabs since my cradle never protrudes past my transom and I go in bow first. If the full weight of the boat rested on the tabs, I would want something to remind me to retract them before berthing. It's hard to imagine hitting something with the tabs while afting in. I'd be more concerned with the props and swim platform.

Floating yesterday and heard a loud buzzing alarm from behind switch console. When I removed console I was able to isolate it down to this little guy. Turned off perkos and it buzzing. Killed all possible power and it kept buzzing. Clearly wired to battery. It looks aftermarket to me and I can't seem to find what system it controls. Everything on boat works just fine without it wired up as far as I can tell. Any thoughts as to what this is or what to goes to?
