Official 330 Sundancer Thread

Hello from the ROCK,

Took delv of 1996 330 7.4's V-Drive Dec 21st. Can't wait to get that baby in the water.

Great thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:smt038

Well with prices falling there has to be some more new (old) 330 owners coming onto the board. I searched for a thread for the 330 and missed it, must be brain dead or can't spell...

Our new to us 330 splashes in the Chesapeake hopefully on 4/15..

Now onto questions:

I want to replace the chartplotter on ours. Is an 8.4 in Garmin or Raymarine the way to go size wise. I am doubtful anything bigger would fit.

How often should the rudder posts be re-packed? Every 2 years??

Anything else that I should upgrade???

Hope you don't mind an express joining in. We purchased our 330 in 06 out of Georgetown,MD on the chesapeke. Loved the area but had to bring her back to Ohio. After getting her in water in Ohio noticed rudder post leaking so repacked both posts and have not had an issue since. Not sure what the actual recommendation is. As far as electronics go there are too many options out there. I upgraded to Raymarine digital/color unit and also have a garmin. Enjoy

Anyone with a new 330DA have the cockpit TV? I have seen this mount in several pictures. How does the TV attach to the mount? Is the mount fairly sturdy? Do you have any pics of the back ot the TV? Here is a pic of the mount I am talking about.

Hello from Lake of the Ozarks, We've got a 94 330EC, just splashed her today and driving home from work by boat. Canvas is up, tanks are full, all systems ready for the season. Live at the 21mm back of Shorty Pants cove.

Well it's spring time and just a few weeks till launching...my poor baby had to spend the winter outside this year so hopefully she had no serious issues.

Great to have a thread to come to.

Not sure how to post my picture here, do I just use the album link?

Great...now that a few of us are here....just what is WRONG with your 330.

I'll start.

Saint Max has a heck of a time getting the bow over when coming on plane.

I was concerned about the tab deployment not being enough.

Bennett told me that they (Bennett) told Sea Ray that the OEM desired tabs were not enough to get the best results for the boat.

Sea Ray's response was that is all we are willing to pay for.

Bennett told me to get a welding fabrication shop to extend the tabs to 15 inches total. Bennett also said the addtional stress on the hydraulics was not a concern, the ram they used was built for more than what they recommended for SR in the first place...

I am going to lengthen the tabs from the current 9" to 15" or 18" and increase the width by a couple to 3" on each tab. I shall also have the 90 degree down angle on the exterior edge of the tab reduced to 60 degrees or removed altogether. I purchased a set of 4 blade props last year. Mrs. Robinson went from 3 to 4 blades and was very happy with both performance and a reduction in GPH.

I shall let you know how it works out.

Please tell me what you have found wrong or being a VLPITA to you

TIA

Is that what they are getting for 330's? Wow they really raised the prices over the 320 and 340's. Or am I misreading your message. Did you pay $240k and you owe - $200k or did you pay $340k?

Sorry you are having to sell your boat. You may want to list your boat with - Jim the sponsor of the site. He has a target audience looking for Sea Ray's. ABLboats.com is okay - but - Jim could get you some exposure through Yachtworld and others.

Thanks! for the reply. I guess its a once and done thing until it acts up again.

Well I ordered a new TV for her and some CO detectors to supplement the one already there. I think I will be replacing that one too as it looks original and could use a new marine one there. Any one have suggestions other then the standard Xintex Fireboy one on WM?

I saw a post on a faucet as a possible change out for the cockpit one..

Looks like a perfect fit. I really did not like the marine ones I saw on line at WM...

Gonna need a new Delta plastice handle for the transom shower, I suspect I should be able to find it at a local shop.

Welll she should have splashed before easter and delivery is scheduled in the cold and rain tommorrow... Fingers crossed and hope that I don't find too many issues...

Just joined 330 Thread. Proud owner of '96 330. Love it!
I have a parts question if anyone can help. My systems monitor just went on the blink? Does anyone know where I might find a new one ('96 330 DA). It's mounted on the dash and is in the shape of a boat hull with about 8-10 red lights. Any help would be appreciated.

I have fitted a Garmin 3010C plotter in place of the B and G plotter, and it was a very tight fit indeed. You will need to place the cutting template very carefully as there is so little margin for error that the soft cover for the chartplotter has to have the bottom right hand side cornre removed to allow it to fit.

Secondly, there is no easy way to secure the plotter once fitted other than making up a silicon (I used "Silkaflex") gasket and around the perimiter of the cutout and fitted a braket to the rear of the plotter that a spring fits to and then this spring is fitted to a small bracket to the bulkhead behind the plotter to pull the plotter onto the gasket, by removing the switch panel and getting your hand around the back of the plotter to connect the spring.

A bit of a hassel and a lot of filing to get it to fit just perfect, but the end result is the biggest plotter in place and looks good.

I will pics asap

That seems about the same price you would pay in a retail shop. Try an RV supply place. One can often get the same thing cheaper there. You can also get some single hole faucets at a plumbing supply house that are a drop in for much less.

Good Luck.

Thank you Tony! I just splashed the boat and am learning more and more everytime we head down. I was curious the hassle of putting in the biggest display that will fit on the panel there and I see it can be some hassle but the result I bet are impressive!!

Thanks Dave... I will look around. My latest problems are around the Vacuflush system needing a new gasket in the bowl, dealer is doing that. Also the Grohe faucet in the galley is leaking like there is no tommorrow. I found a replacement cartridge for $26 on line that I think will fix it.. I hope so as that is the priority fix for the moment!!!

Take Care!

Faucets - Seeking Advice

Sorry for being a PITA! Thanks for all your feedback so far..

Well I tried like crazy this weekend to get the faucet cart out of the galley faucet and it is snugged up in there pretty good. I sprayed the daylights out of it with WD40 to free it up overnight but no love there... So I just ordered some new faucets for the galley and the cockpit sink. They are the SureFlo Trindad Models from WM. I did finally get the ceramic cartridge out of the faucet. I did not notice anything out of the ordinary that would cause it not to seal, must just have been wear.

Hurdles - galley new is 1 1/2" cutout and from my research, after I ordered OF COURSE the existing cutout is 1". Also the new faucet is 1/2' NPT connections and it looks like the galley is 3/8"? I may start with the Cockpit if it seems easier but I am wondering if the faucet is over the ice maker and thus I will need to remove that white barrier in the storage... I hope not...

Update: The Trinidad faucets from west marine were a perfect fit. I did the faucet in the cockpit first. It was a straight replacement. I would caution as it looked like the PO had already replaced this faucet and enlarged the hold just a bit. The hole was a bit larger then the faucet but there was a black gasket left from the old faucet that was in great shape and framed the hole. The existing water line was the exact size, basically plug and play.

Now onto the galley faucet. Luckily the new faucet fit in the same standard hole. My advice would be to run the included supply line up from underneath and secure them first. Then slide the faucet down through the hole. Mine required a bit of a push but no issues. There was one rough part.
the connectors on the sea ray supply lines are 3/8" CPVC connectors. The ones on the faucet are Normal Plumbing Type. Also they are too short to reach. So I had to head off to the local plumbing True Value. I picked up 2 new CPVC connectors, a short piece of PLEX pipe and another set of Normal Plumbing type connectors and that did the trick.

This may have been asked elsewhere but for the older Sea Rays is there a decent vendor/supply for the striping? My striping above the waterline has worn where the lifting straps rub against the hull. I guess I could match up with generic colors.

Also, has anyone had any experience in replacing some/all of the canvas from Great Lakes? Would you recommend Great Lakes or have them made locally. The quote I received from Great Lakes was roughly $2000 for all of the std./oem pieces...I thought this was pretty reasonable but I have nothing to compare this to.

Thanks for all of your help, a couple of members on this board were a big help to me last year diagnosing some a/c and generator issues...

I purchased new canvas from great lakes and they are "great" to say that from ordering to delivery (UK) was six weeks in total and well under the cost of local suppliers (says more about the cost of boating in the UK, though) and they fit perfectly as you would expect they are the OEM.

BUD What do you mean on the blink? I have a 1995 330EC and get a constant alarm from my monitor. Lights all work, checked all my grounds and checked the bus bar behind dash. I am stumped and my mechanic is stumped. If you find out please let me know
