Official 330 Sundancer Thread

Hello all,

Just recently joined, but have owned my 1994 330 Sundacer for the past 5 years. She has been out of commission for the past 3 seasons as we moved from Florida to Pennsylvania, but we're splashing her today in the Chesapeke Bay. $5,000 in pre-splash fixes will hopefully pale in comparisson to the fuel I plan on using this season. I'm interested in knowing if the same performance and GPH improvments can be expected when switching from 3 blade to 4 blade in a stern drive like mine.

Thanks for starting this thread....I'm going to do the tune up on my 7.0 Westerbeke BCG myself...that should be an adventure worth sharing.

Thanks

1997 330 upgrade ideas

Ok. Now that I have my new to me 97 330, can anyone give me some ideas for those little upgrades and improvements that have been really great?

For example, there are very few cupholders. What have you done and where are they mounted?

Has anyone rigged up a companionway bug screen? The new ones have the sliding screen door, but has anyone done anything unique to accomplish a similar thing?

Any other ideas to share?

Axius questions

Hello fellow 330 Sea Ray owners. I recently purchased a 2008 330 with Axius. I am having issues with the system and wanted to chat about them with other Axius owners. Been out only 4 times on the Chesapeake Bay.

The boat moves to starboard fine but will not move to port. The technicians updated the software a few weeks ago but when we had it out yesterday is was acting up again. The wind was blowing and I really was hoping to use Axius to get around the dock.

Anyway, I want to learn all I can about the experiences other boaters are having with Axius.

thanks
steve

Finally took delivery of our 2009 330....WOW! It should be illegal to have this much fun!

We bought it from Clarks Landing on Kent Island, Md. These guys are great! They lettered the boat, filled it with gas, free winter storage (first year), free boat washes, gave us a nearly all day Captain's Class where they went over everything (including docking, using thrusters, etc.), and got a great deal! If your in the market, stop by and see Jim Carney, tell him "Roe Boat" sent you.

Had a few issues during survey, but nothing major. One fuel tank sender didn't work, some minor cosmetics. There service department is coming to our dock this week to take care of everything for us before next weekend.

Took the family (kids and grand kids) out on Saturday, and JustUs2 on Sunday. Hoping to see some of you on the Bay (don't look for us at the dock). :smt001

When we backed into the slip Sunday evening, I was about 4 feet from the finger pier (on purpose). Used the bow and stern thrusters to walk us over, heard a guy on the pier across from us yell down to his wife, "you gotta come see this, I just saw that boat move sideways!"

Did I mention how much we love this boat (only thing, we forgot our camera)?

Any 330 sundancer owners out there today? My wife and I just purchased a '96 330 sundancer, 297 hrs on it and are in love with her already. Ran 2 hrs from Charlevoix, MI to Traverse City, Mi on tues. distance of about 48 N.M., took 2 hrs at about @23.5 kts., 3000 rpm square. Very pleased with the boat. Any advice from present owners about what to watch and / or look for? I am a avionics shop owner/tech in Northern Mi, and have about 20 years of marine electronics experience. Open to any questions I might be able to help with regarding same. Lots of raymarine experience. Mark Evans

Welcome Plane 2 Sea! You will absolutely love the 330! When you get a chance post your engine size, v-drive or outdrives, etc with a signatre so people can best assist you when needs arise.

I have had Carpe Diem III for 9 years and over 600+hours at the helm. They are wonderful vessels except now my Raytheon Pathfinder display seems to be running "slow". I might need to tap your knowledge on upgrading....

We have a wonderful wealth of information here about these vessels and I'm sure you will find many people very helpful!

Smooth sailing!

BTW, I am a former "cheesehead" and took CD III from Sturgeon Bay to Ludington in 2000. I love your boating area! Mackinac Island is one of my favorite spots!

98 330DA hailing from sunny North Myrtle Beach. Sorry you guys don't get to experience great fall cruising, the next couple of months are some of the best. Cooler temps, no humidity, and no traffic! Thanks for starting the thread.
Jamie,
Are you familiar with North Myrtle Beach Canvas? I'm looking for a new camper back canvas for my 97 330 DA and when I was in Myrtle Beach in Apr 09 I saw examples of their work. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance, Dan

Thx for the reply. '96 330 w/ 454's, v-drives, 3 blade props. Original Raymaine electronics, I'm a Garminaviation dlr and fan, so will probably go that way at upgrade time. Mark Evans, "Plane 2 Sea"

330 'dancer owners. We have several hrs on our new to us '96 330 'Dancer. Very few issues. I see a differance of 75/100 rpm's between the tach's, with the sync rpm centered. Engines sound in sync. Normal? Is there a viable digital tach changeout available, or do I live with it. Would like to set a fairly accurate rpm setting for economy/cruise. Thx, Mark

Same diff forme starboard runs higher. MM put a tach on both engines and verified that the engines and confirms the sync is correct. So I use the port to guage rpm and sync off the sync guage. When I replace the dash panels this winter I will lok at the wiring.

Plane 2 Sea, I have had the same issue. Once a year (I am due) I pull the dash out and toggle the 4-6-8 cylinder switch back and forth a few times. I believe this exercise cleans a connection and the tachs are again in sync. I read about this issue and fix some time ago on this board.

Hope this info helps.

Does anyone know if the 26" LG TV in the '08 330DA is digital or analog? I'm hoping that I don't have to use a converter.

Julia Valentine... pretty sure if the television was installed by Sea Ray in 2008 it will be digital... You can probably look it up on line. Plane 2 Sea, Mark

Greetings All! I am a brand new owner of a 97 330 dancer w twin 5.7 mercruisers! I am completely in love with this boat and want to live aboard!!! The boat was purchased sight unseen and surveyed excellent. I had never been on board and know nothing of the systems. The systems though, are new to me and seeing as my first boat was a 77 30'weekender and was very primitive compared to my new beauty, I was hoping that I could gain some insight as to a few of the systems:
1.I am not able to start the generator. I get the rocker switches all correct (the ones I know about) to the point where the high tone indicating the gen ignition is engaged, but when I push the start rocker- nothing happens. Can someone please go step by step on the procedure that they use to start their genset? My surveyor started it with no problem and gave it high marks. So I Know it works
2.Electrical system-What settings do you use for overnighting? when docked with shore power- do you leave your batteries on? which one? Which battery controls which accessories?
3.Vacuflush head- I turned on the water and elec. system, but cannot get the head to flush. Again, surveyor said works fine and got it to work no problems. But again, I wasnt there to see how to do it.
If I can get these 3 systems in my knowledge belt, I can then go on to tackle more, but these 3 are for the finishing out of the summer run we began only this last Monday!
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Masmar aboard "3 Little Birds"
