Official 370 Sundancer thread

I have a 1995 sundancer 370
With 2 ac units. When I turn them on they seem to run ok and then start making a clicking noise so I shut them down. But in the meantime I noticed no water is coming out of the side of the boat. This is probably why they start clicking .... maybe getting hot or something.

can someone tell me is there just 1 sea Strainer and valve for both units and is it right next to starboard fuel tank?
Trying to figure out why water isn’t flowing. I had the valve open and both units going.

Did you check the sea strainer to see if it clogged? I clean mine out periodically especially if it has been a while since I have taken the boat out.

The other problem may be that the pump has lost prime and is not getting water from he sea strainer to pump. I have not had that problem, but a friend has that problem with his A/C starting every season.

If you ran the boat before putting a/c on: you may have an air bubble at the pump. Leave the a/c off, loosen the hose clamp so that a small amount of water can leak into bilge, while at the same time have someone else start the a/c. If pump comes on, you can tighten clamp. If pump makes no noise trying to come on, it may be burned out. Happens to me sometimes, but if I wait a bit after returning to dock the air will work itself out.

All 370s that I am familiar with are 1.5" shafts.
A cheap harbor freight caliper (digital no less) will get you in the ballpark just to be sure.
I've used a big old 3 leg hand crank puller for the last 3 boats, but if it's in the water, and I'm not in the mood, my bottom diver will usually do it for 50-75 bucks. Especially if he knows ahead of time, or he's already in the water. Back in my youth, I made some 400 bucks one day in January by swimming around Marina Jacks in a wet suit and scuba gear after looking at my props. NOBODY wanted in that water at that temp.

not true. i have a 1996 370 Sundancer and it has a 1 1/4" shaft. if you can get to shallow water and go under, the prop will have the size bore it is.you what size shaft you have.

hmm my mistake. The Sea Ray Parts Manual only shows 1.5" shafts. Maybe I'm only looking at the 3116 and the MAG MPI 380hp parts.

Hi all new 370DA owner here, have a 1999 with 380hp horizons one motor was hurt currently getting it fixed pulled the props and I see 18 x 19 on her have old WOT pulls from a mech with these going to 4980 and 4860 Pt > stb its high so she seems underpropped a bit, am I better off switching to a 4 blade from here? I see 18 x 20 as the reccomendation is that still correct? are the Michigan DQX a good place to start?

Here is your present. The 1998 parts manual is in there under manuals.

Thanks for confirming the originals, if I was to go to 4 blades would I step down to 18 x 20? is it worth it for the 4 blades? I saw WOT rpm with them around 4400 guessing they take a bit more to turn?

If you are getting 4400 rpm out of your current props, you are propped for those engines
The speed over water is what it is, for that vessel, loaded as it is, and for as long as it has been soaking in the waters it lives in. There is no 370 that will win a race against any other manufacturer's 370. That is not what it is for, unless you own an oil rig. 380 x 2=760 HP max, that is 76 GPH at firewall. If you are burning 35-40 GPH at cruise, you are killing it.
Unless you are REALLY going somewhere, relax, and enjoy the amenities. 4 blades will rob your top end, and improve your response at idle. How do you run your boat? That's the answer.

Plan is to cruise, Current WOT rpm is 4960 and 4860 for port and stbd respectively or right around there. I just saw a lot of chat about the 4 blades helping with around the dock and slow speed as well as cruise.

I also saw they were getting around 4400 wot with 18 x 20's 4 blade. If I am going to get a new set of props either way, I am going to go with the ones to get me the most efficient cruise realistically.

Just curious if its worth it to go with 4 blades over the 18x22 if I am going to grab a new set.

I did mine recently. Was relatively easy to be honest.
I've got the 7.0 BCG and it runs a johnson pump.

Oh, and hi all. I'm in Australia and have had my 96 370 for a little over a year. Having read every post here, its been a wealth of information, and I've done enough to now know the boat quite well, top to bottom!

Hi all. Just replaced the windshield vent gaskets with approx 1' on each side & 2' alone the bottom, with the Taylor Made gasket 835200 - picture attached.

I'd ordered 5' of the gasket @ $8/LF plus shipping and handling but for some reason they sent me a lot more, probably enough for 2 boats at 4 1/2 feet each. If someone is looking to replace their windshield vent gaskets I'll share what I have left for a few dollars plus shipping cost. If interested, email me at fpinol@tampabay.rr.com.

Anyone bought parts to the spotlight? Particularly the gears? I’m missing a few teeth...
Or know the manufacturer of it?

mine doesn’t have any weather seal either and I’ve always wondered. I’m not as worried about it getting wet because I put wet in there. But would like to find something to keep it from vibrating when underway.
