Official 370 Sundancer thread

Hi everybody thanks In advance this thread has helped me lots. I have a 1997 370 sundancer. Several questions that I can’t find or figure out.
Some of them have been festering for a while so please bear with me.

Can I remove the cup holder/cubby that is just next to the helm, can this be slid out without removing the helm seat base I don’t want to cut away and have to re silicone it Down
I have decided to add a bow thruster this winter, I have owned the boat for 4 year and never needed it but have had some hairy situations that my first mate has been helpful with a hard push or fender but with my first baby now here I will be more relaxed knowing I have it. So my question is, two company’s said the vetus 75 6hp is plenty and one company said the next size up should be used vetus 95 8hp. Normally I would upsize but that company wants $4k more than the other two.? Does anyone have a bowthruster and tell me what size and if sufficient. Thank you

The last two years I have smelt a toilet black water smell on bilge, I do see that the top of holding tank has imploded a bit prolly from a pump out at one time. So this smell bothers me, know one notices when the engine compartment covers are on but when I turn my blowers on I can smell them. I have replaced the vacuum pump macerator pump and the lines that are in th engine compartment wih new sani flex white lines, replaced air vent filter. Is it possible that the lid that the sensors screw in to the top of the tank are seeping the smell. I don’t think the tank is leaking. Has anyone replaced this tank before, measuring it, it looks like it’d be close but possible to come out. Just wanted to see if anyone else dealt with this.

my vhf antennas are splintering the fiberglass from them, is there any way to replace without running a new wires, seems like a real job to snake through arch an to helm?

Really want to replaced scuffed up hull decals, am I’m I on my own here or does a company produce them, also how would you recomend removing the old one razor blade or buffing wheel ? Or chemical product.
Lastly. I notice starboard side cockpit deck when sprayed with water drops water on engine and generator because the engine compartment cover have black rubber strips underneath that need to be replaced does anyone know where to get that replacement rubber from, that I believe will allow water to properly drain down tracks.

Feeeew that’s it for now, any and all advice will be appreciated!

Does anyone here know the taylor made part # for the center vent that opens on the windshield top trim piece? Not the foam seal that I have but there is a trim piece above that opens with it, I've attached a photo to help identify.

I actually removed all my old decals with a heat gun ............. worked well

On my 1998 370 DA it is a Taylor Made Hinge cover PN A-82290. Very easy to do. 6' of it cost me $49 in 2011, purchased from Taylor made via telephone.

I've also now got a generator issue and would love some more opinions...

When starting, it will fire up, and once I release the "preheat" it will run for a few moments, the drop in rpm to almost stall before recovering.
I also have to spread out the load applied or the same thing happens.
While using it the other day, I decided to hold "preheat" while adding load and just like that, no issues at all.

Since it starts and stays running, I think I can rule out the safety switches that preheat bypasses, but it leads me to think fuel supply issue.

Once you release preheat, does the fuel pump continue to work or is it just a lift pump that help get fuel through the lines at start-up?
The fuel pump is full time. Facet is the brand when you remove the expensive red paint.
Search is your friend here. I doubt there is any system or symptom that hasn't been covered in some fashion on this site.

Thanks mate, been through here top to bottom and plus some. Now worked back through most parts and down to slight carb idle adjustments (not governor idle adjustment) to make some minor changes before the governor does it's job (hope that makes sense)!

Does anyone know specifically what spectrum gel coat patch kit would be ordered for a 99? Is it the Arctic white?

So I finally did it..

Removed & replaced old broken leaky hot water tank.

I would rate it about a 6 on the difficulty scale if 10 was sanding and painting the bottom. Took me the better part of the day. The hardest part is just the cramped space you are working in.

I put in a crossover high temperature water mixing valve so I don't burn my guests with scalding hot water I'm sure my wife will be pleased with that.

I also got cocky and threw some valves in for the transom shower.

Hot water for the first time, I'm happy as shit.

OK floors next!!!

So I came up with a crazy idea.

There is a engine coolant line & return line that runs into my cabin (hot water tank)

What if I put in an additional t connection and a valve on both of those lines. Then I fed one end into a heater core then from the heater core I went to an auxiliary 12dc water pump back to the return line.

In theory I could heat my whole cabin for hours off a hot engine block without ever having to mess with my ac system or run my generator etc. I don't think the pump or the fan would draw that much power.

Does anyone understand what I'm talking about? Could it be done? I could remove the aft AC unit and put the whole thing right there.

I think I would rather do that then mess with a diesel heater in my cabin. I need to get cabin heat sorted out when I am off grid.

I have effectively this in the cockpit. Billed as a defroster, it takes a coolant feed from the STBD engine, and runs up to the helm seat, where it runs through a heater core and back to the engine, no pumps.
The heater core has a fan on it, and blows warmed air to the helm side wall coaming, and the top of the console by the compass.
In Florida, I don't use this much if at all, and have often perused the thought of running water through an ice chest full of ice in the helm locker instead of through the engine. Cockpit air for the captain only!

Yes I have this on mine as well. I just need to figure out a way to get it in my cabin too. I don't see why It couldn't be done. I think the key would be to have a pump circulating the coolant through the hot engine to maintain the warmth.

Up here in Vancouver we get hot summers but winters are colder than a witches tit and I boat year round

Nate, could you send a link for the adapter you used to go from the grey water lines to the PEX? I am sick of dealing with those brittle plastic fittings on my hot water heater when I bypass for the winter. Thanks
