Official 370 Sundancer thread

My tachs do much the same little dance. I need to pull them out and check connections. It's on the never ending to-do list.

Congrats!

Looks like I am about to officially join the club. Survey went well on 98. Water heater was sitting in a 1/2 in of water. Not sure why -- cracked fitting or pressure relief?
.....
get the water out of the compartment, and then remove one of the screws that holds the water heater down. If you get water gushing up, be wary. water gets trapped in the center bilge BEHIND the compartment that has the bilge pump and shower/condensate combo unit. No access to that void behind the floor locker without a cutting tool.

Yeah, I read your posts. I am thinking (hoping) it's not that. It was pretty fresh, the compartment was clean, and the owner seemed surprised -- and they spend every weekend on the boat.

The only way to know for sure is to probe. I have a permanent inspection plate under the stairs now, and I am still getting rain water into that area, even though I have a full cockpit cover from windshield to transom. What nags me is when the PO had this boat, it banged up against a piling on the port side around the forward stateroom port hole. Looked superficial, but I've had some sort of rain water intrusion on that side since then (2003) off and on. Unfortunately, water is real sneaky about where it enters, and where it manifests itself. The next time I come out (either for a storm, or bottom paint), I am removing the rub rail, and will re-bed the hull to the deck. for now, I am drying out the blind bilge, and will make weeps from the void area to the cabin bilge (properly caulked, of course), where the forward bilge pump is. At least I'll know where the water is, get rid of it before it can leech into anything, and mitigate the issue once and for all.

Does anyone here have any good ideas on how to make the tachs less jumpy/noisy? I tried the pull the gauge out and turn the adjustment screw on the back between all the settings several times to clean off those contacts. Wondering if I should pull out and dismantle and clean the contacts more aggressively or if there are any other tricks to get accurate, smooth RPM readings on these things.

Whew!!!! ok... all 201 Pages of the 370 Forum have been read. Holy cheese and rice.... I have garnered A LOT of info and appreciate all of the Old and New info being shared. We have owned our 1996 370 for almost a month now and absolutely love the boat. This forum, like the others I followed with our previous Yamaha is going to introduce a substantial amount of COST into our boating life due to all of the amazing upgrades and ideas I have seen. Luckily enough, and only at this time, the Lady of the Manor has not developed the frenzied pillow itch that I noticed in recent posts... I have no doubt however that this is certainly soon to come!!! I believe the first project we are really going to undertake is the carpet in the salon/ births. I'm sure it was nice back in the day but the stains and general wear I am beginning to notice more and more every time I am at the boat are seriously beginning to weigh heavily on my mind. Looking forward to the end result however I am anticipating some labor intensive days during the upgrade!!!! Either way, looking forward to all the memories to come and to new connections here in the forum!

@RubberDuckeeToo2 Sir are you still out there? Came across a ton of your posts and am curious about the 370 site? You seemed to have had a treasure trove of pictures of upgrades and model variations that I am unfortunately unable to get to.

had to take off the tv mount and the old shelf in that cubby. Got down behind it with a king ratchet and a few bolts. Slide right out.

@Nate Britton Ok.. Finally got the TV out and located the hardware holding the DISC Changer in place. Damn flat head screws in mine! Took a few exaggerated flexes and a hefty amount of salty language but finally got it out! Thanks for the info again Sir.

awesome man! Congrats!

I’m still on the hunt for this hidden amp. I looked around in the suggested places and still don’t see it. Anyone brave enough to share a few photos or video of the hiding spot so I can get a visual! Thanks as always!!!

I am still out here but have suffered a large number of medical issues that have kept me from updating the site or doing much in the way of boating. For the last six months, I have been working on trying to get retired which hopefully will allow me more time to do both. I just checked the site and was shocked to see that it was/is non-responsive. Looks I have programming to do to bring it back online. One more task to add to my list. Sorry to anyone who was looking for the site. Stay tuned…..

Ok. Checking out my engine room and notice these two tubes lying there. Looks like the zip ties broke. Other engine has the same, still zip tied up. What are they -- some type of oil/trans change?

Can you trace where they go to the engines? On my old boat, I installed taps in the oil pans to allow a quick change of the engine oil by draining them through hoses that look just like those two. Granted, I had the luxury of installing those hoses when I was re-powering the boat with two new engines, but I have since learned that other boats have such oil changing hoses installed at the factory.

Too much work. :) I'll get down there and trace them in a bit. Thanks.
