Official 370 Sundancer thread

Mark,

It looks like the anti-siphon valves may have gotton bumped to the wrong setting when someone was in the engine room. I am going to take her out this weekend to get the engines good and hot and see what happens. It is a real PITA to get to the filters to refill with gas when the engines are hot!! BTW, how do you like your new boat?

Jack, seems strange that both valves got "bumped". Didn't think there was any settings on them either but I can't say that I'm an expert on the subject. Hope it works out for you though. I'm really loving the new boat with all of the room it has. I sold the DA in September and drove the AC home in December so I'm real happy with how it all worked out. Thanks for asking. Mark

Glad to hear you like the boat and also glad to see you did not leave the sea ray fold. As far as the valves getting "bumped" I was being polite to someone who may have changed the setting. I agree with you that it could not have happened to both accidentally. Once we switched them back the fuel system is now staying pressurized. I have had the boat out since the switch on the valves was changed but I will this weekend and will let you know what happens.

Jack, sounds like you're talking about the crossover valves not the anti siphon valves you mentioned in the original post. That makes much more sense. Hope it does the trick. Mark

Jason, that boat must run great with those Cats in it. You don't see to many of them with diesels. Someone posted a response earlier that said they put a fridge in place of the ice maker, has anyone figured out a way to fit a fridge and an ice maker? I was looking at the possiblity of trying to fit a small fridge under the bar sink but I didn't want to go through the hassle of moving the battery switches. I removed my port side front seat to extend my bar area which worked out really nice but I still would like to add a fridge somehow.
I just purchased my first 370 and we absolutely love it! I saw your post on turning the port side seat into an extended bar area. Due to an unfortunate event I had to cently remove the seat for repair. While it is in the shop the empty area became a great bar area while out at anchor and entertaining this weekend.Would you mind sending me a picture of what you did to convert the bar area??? Please..

Wolf, I think if you go to 370sundancer.com and click on 1998 and the boat name "Absolution" you'll see pictures of the bar area. I'll take a look myself to make sure they're there. Mark

Thanks Mark, that was it! And what a GREAT site for even better pics! Amazingly enough the boat I purchased was listed in their and I could see pics of it prior to it's recent overhaul...I am the 3rd owner after just recently purchasing it from the 2nd...What are the odds???

Guys,

I am changing my stereo and also the remote control that is in the cockpit but I have updated to a system that has the not the same wire connection, so I have to run new wire from the location of the radio to the cockpit all the way to the cockpit area to have that digital remote working! Does anybody knows what how or what do I have to take apart to reach the area where all the ohter wires are running ?

Thanks!

Thanks for the compliment - 370sundancer.com is my site. Feel free to poke around and if you have pics to add, let me know.

BTW Absolution was the inspiration for the purchase of my boat. With the exception of the countertop color and the bar area, I have the same boat.

I changed to a Fusion system a few years ago and as I remember, I used the old remote's cable as a pull through from the dash down into the salon area where the stereo is located. I didn't need to take anything apart.

This is how I did it...........Remove the subwoofer at the helm and the TV above the stereo, there should be a plastic conduit run between the sub and the TV, the existing remote control cable was in the conduit. Tape your new cable (and an extra pull wire) to the existing remote control cable and use that as a pull wire.

Wanted to add something else...........there is also a plastic conduit that goes from behind the sub down into the ER, this also had a existing pull wire. When I installed a bigger amp it was a breeze to pull the larger wires from the ER to the amp behind the sofa.

I also did the same thing recently, but had a different experience in my 1998 37. After removing the subwoofer and TV i found that the existing remote cable was wire loomed and could not be pulled through the existing PVC conduit. So i left the existing remote wire in place and instead fished it from the TV area to the closet on the starboard side (just ahead of the aft cabin). The remote cable does not go through the PVC conduit but instead is just fished through the open area behind the cupboards. I then drilled a hole through the bulkhead separating the helm from the closet, and then fished it the rest of the way up to the helm. To drill the hole, I had to remove the bottom and aft panels of this same closet. I also had to remove the AC duct from the duct outlet to get access. When i drilled the hole through the bulkhead separating the helm from the closet i drilled from the helm side, working through the subwoofer cut out. It was tight, but with the subwoofer removed I was able to do it. I drilled the hole somewhat oversized (1") and sealed the gap between the remote cable and the hole diameter with a sealant.

I also found the empty conduit from the helm to the ER and have used this to install a fume sensor. That was nice of SeaRay to install that, complete with a pull cable.

Good luck.

Mark -

Couldn't agree more. Just bought mine about 7 weeks ago and love it. I have had a few issues: fuel pump went out on Starboard engine & transmission out on port engine but after a few thousand dollars - its all good. I put 3 flat screen tv's on my 1995 370. What a great addition. One in the master BR, one in the salon and one up top. With the sound sytem going and good friends - what a great time !!

Happy & Safe boating everyone !!! Cheers !!

Wow, I just pulled a new remote cable to the helm last weekend. Same as above. My old cable was the only cable in the plastic conduit.

John,

Thanks alot for your help here on the remote wiring! I did what you told me and everything worked out perfectly!
Thanks again and stay safe!!

So speaking of radios... I am seriously considering replacing my current Fusion 600 and remote setup with the new Fusion 700 series which handle me iPod classic 160g music library better. Call it the electronic version of foot-itis. Anyone of my 370 brethren interested in my old setup?

Just got back from a ten day trip and the boat has developed a very annoying habit. Four times on the trip when I shut the boat down and tried to restart the engines an hour or two later they would not start. The only way I could get them to run was to remove the fuel filters and fill them with fuel. Each time they would only be about a third full. I blamed myself the first time because it was 95 and I forgot to leave the blowers on. However, the next day it did the same thing with the blowers on and same outside air temp. The last time it did it I idled about ten minutes to the fuel dock in the morning in about 80 degree temp and the boat would not start again. Has anyone else had this problem? I hate to think I have to leave my boat running anytime it is warm.

If you search this site for vapor lock, you'll soon find my 3 year battle with this issue. I finally broke down and installed the secondary fuel pumps and have never experienced the problem again, thru 100 degree days on the Tenn river. Even if you leave the blower on, if your genset is running, your engine room is still 160-180 on a summer day. Mercruiser service bulletin states (in so many words): "This is not a cure for vapor lock. It is a fix for the symptoms. Deal with it."

370 Dancer,

I read through your vapor lock thread and my symptoms are identical. Run for over 10 or fifteen minutes and turn off the engines in warm weather and they will not restart or if they do they run for about 10 seconds and then shut down. Each time when the fuel filter was removed it was about half empty. When refilled the engines would fire and run fine the rest of the day. Also, if left over night the boat starts fine every time. I think that the installation of the pumps sounds like the right plan.

In reading your thread you mentioned a slight miss in one of your engines. I have noticed my starboard engine at cruise ( 3400 - 3600 ) will drop about 100 rpm's on occasion. After 3 - 10 seconds it will come back to full song. I have not been able to establish a pattern in this activity but I wonder if yours has gone away with the fuel system fix?

Thanks for your help,
