Official 370 Venture thread

I've just about finished my first modification project. I installed my KVH satellite, basically just replacing the Glomex. didn't run any new wires, just used existing. the pic below is the panel above the TV in the salon area. the boat came with about a 2" opening where a DVD player stuck through. I removed fabric, and opened the hole up to about 5" high so i can also have my satellite receiver stacked there also. I also decided that on the boat i would not have a permanent cockpit TV. instead, i installed the plate with inputs so i can easily plug in a big flatscreen in the cockpit for football games, etc.
in the pic, it looks like the wall plate i added is a little angled. when installed, it isn't. didn't want you guys thinking i was slack :)

i'm heading over to boat today to take up to a local boatyard. I'm hauling out to do my 100 hour service. even tho i'm the only 370 owner on site, i'll document and take pix for future 370 owners or anyone thinking about this model.

Enjoy the ride. Just know all of us in the Northeast will be jealous...........

Thanks and I am still keeping up and living vicariously through your 370 !

Quick question -how do you feel about the power behind the 370 with those verados-feel like they do a good job with that big boat ?

Reason I ask is I was told by a very large dealer say they will not stock them due to power concerns - not so sure I'm buying that.

Islandtime, plenty of power. the boat will go like 40mph. yesterday i was traveling up current just keeping the boat on plane at 28mph. on plane is at high 4000 rpm's. for docking, the outboards need more throttle than I/O's. idle speed around dock isn't sufficient with wind and current so handles differently than a similar Sundancer. the engines are spaced far apart so maneuvering is easy, but just needs more throttle than i was used to giving. don't understand under power. before i had the 290 with the bigger engine package, and this is just as powerful as that boat in relation to size and weight.

travelled upstream yesterday to Two Way Boatyard for my 100 hour service. They did a short haul giving me a couple hours to complete my service. Everything was easy with no hiccups.

Thanks for sharing!

On a side note... they really need to think about replacing those tires on that lift!

A/F Paint flaking on transom already!!! I would make note of it to SR selling dealer and SR corporate. That to me is indicative of poor prep.

I'm assuming that it's just "gunk" on the outboards. I don't know if you can paint that area with A/F paint or not. You may want to consider coating the affected areas with lanolin. "Gunk" hates lanolin.

Great.. good to hear and that's what I suspected - why this dealer will not carry is beyond me - maybe its reluctance to embrace the outboard powered cruiser model... which i personally feel may be where the 25 - 40' cruiser market will go in general - just my opinion. Your boat is looking great. I'm watching the "used " market on these - still a good selection out there. I'd have to imagine there are some deals to be had. i'm in salt water as you may know and not a guy who has a ton of time for my own maintenance - again why i love the idea of having those outboards sitting out of the water in my next boat - hopefully a little less worry than the inboard and especially the stern drive as i have now.

The demand just isn't there.

The 370 Venture's production days are about gone. Very little demand for this boat, unfortunately.
Also +1 on the bottom paint , bad prep comment. Does not look right for a boat that new.

Why do you think that is ? Economy or design ?
Would love to hear from sea Ray corporate if they are really planning on discontinuing this line .

Just picked our 2013 Venture up in Newport Beach, Ca. Looking forward to our first Catalina Island Run next weekend. Loving it so far. Had it out Sunday and got into some blue whales right off the coast. Never get tired of that stuff. Had 12 people out for a harbor cruise on Sunday....plenty of room for everyone. And it's so quiet with those Verados. At idle in the slip you can't hear them....keeping checking guages to make sure they're running!

I have not had that issue. i did however pull boat out for a complete bottom paint job a couple months ago. my bottom paint when i bought was not a good job and didn't last even a year. the boat, however, is absolutely awesome in almost every respect. i sit in salt all the time and having the engines out of water is a huge bonus.
