Official 370 Venture thread

Nice pic our friends took of us off Longboat Key, FL

Looks great!

Thanks! Honestly for its class, I think the Venture is the best boat out there, but I understand why Sea Ray discontinued it.

- The outboards allow me to go into shallow areas like lagoons and most SW Florida areas. Realistically only needing 2ft under the boat really makes having outboards the only way to go for me. Inboards need 4 ft and greater, thats simply a no go for this area.
- Huge amount of deck space makes this a fantastic day boat. Every other boat in its class has just the bow sunpads and maybe a small area in the back. This boat all 37ft is deck space.
- The cabin and sleeping area is just huge. No one expects it to be that big downstairs.
- Price used around 250k is super affordable for a boat like this.

The negative -

The twin 300's you simply always have to deal with this boat being slightly underpowered. Its not a deal breaker for me because I live in a lot of no wake zones and we like to cruise. With full tanks of gas, if you have 4 people sitting on the couches toward the sterm, you have to ask 1-2 people to come to the bow area or the helm to get on plane.

I wish this had 400's, but I understand the price point would completely change.

Having said that, there simply is no better boat for what we want at this price.

That's good that you are enjoying it and its fitting your lifestyle. I wish I could enjoy year round but limited to the seasons on NJ. Interesting on the power... I feel like this is the most powerful Sea Ray I have owned... I have had around 7 to 8 people on at holidays and was still able to cruise without having to shift weight. I just put the tabs down to start off.

Question that I still have out there...Has anyone been able to store all the vberth cushions under the aft bed? The cutout under there doesn't fit them all. Its weird but one of the cushions is just left out.

I havent been able to fit all the cushions. I leave them at home and use that space for other things.

In terms of power, really? I noticed if I stay around 40-50% fuel, everything is good, but if I top off, if I have 3 people on the stern and Im at the helm I cant get out of the hole.

Thats funny with the cushions... what were they thinking?? Lets make a storage unit under the bed thats holds all the cushions expect 1... lol.

Yea i mean honestly with the power I haven't had any issues. I just put the tabs down and throw the sticks full throttle to get up and then cruise around 5200 with tabs back up. However, will full fuel and water, and holding tank, then issues will arise.

Hey All, Getting close to putting her back in the water here in NJ...if it would just warm up!! I have some plans of adding mood lighting outside this season as well. Also taking care of the Genny recall and Sea Ray is replacing the entire port side of windows. I noticed cracks in them and they agreed to replace due to the type of sealant used.

Anyone know what kind of screw is used to secure the windshield? See picture, mines missing? This is right after the radar arch. I just want to know what size to get.

BigB, don't do the genny recall! that recall actually makes the generator work worse. it makes it go through a shut down more often. i went through a ton with the manufacturer and a couple of service repair centers before someone finally gave me the low down. the recall is for their benefit and not the operators, was explained to me. the generator was the worst part of that boat in my opinion.

oh wow, really? I can't even get it done, there's a shortage of skilled techs here and i've been on the list for a year. I haven't had any issues "knock on wood" so I might just leave it alone.

What do you guys think of this? Any had any leaks yet? This is right by Aft bed...we had heavy rain and I saw these 2 droplets continuing to form. I wondered where they were going once they ran behind everything..probably into the bowls and eventually through the weep holes to the bilge...but I don't like it.

I may be posting to myself, lol, not much activity on this due to the lack of owners of this model. But I wanted to post an update for the archives incase someone in the future runs into any leaks.

I was getting some leaking in the Aft, port side cabinet. The last one aft by the reading light. Believe it or not, I dug up the caulking around the port side windshield and there was a random drilled hole for no reason at all under it. It wasn't lined up for mounting the windshield or really served any purpose at all. I caulked it all over again and the leaking stopped. Now this took care of some water that was dripping in by the last reading light. There is an access panel within the cabinet unit above... I opened that and used a snake cam to see where dripping was coming from.

The actual droplet that forms by the window is still under investigation. Its not a huge deal but annoying. I even noticed that the little opening window within the window leaks a bit, but not from the opening and closing but its actual gasket that sits in the frame of the window. There's just a ton of windows on this boat! lol. And with all the flexing from using the boat, they are all bound to leak at some point.

Keep the posts coming. I love this model, and might try to move to it in a year or two (buying used of course) I love all of the outboard cruisers, except they are all too new for me, and so, out of my price range! Regal XO, 299, Azimut verve 40’, 600k+, Aquila 36 Cat, 500k, Sea Ray 320 OB, 380+?, etc.

I will check in on here for sure. so-- keep posting. I actually own Ritchie's Venture. found him by accident. really nice guy and knows a lot about the boat. i'm mike t. i'm in Stuart, fl.

does anyone know where the drain plugs are located? seems like i'd be able to see them, but I can't. thanks!

can someone please answer me if they have repropped from the 3-blade to Revolution 4 blades? i'm considering it with my 370 venture with 300 verado's.
thank you!

Hello Folks,

I am new to the boating, and recently was offered to purchase a 2014 Sea Ray 370 Venture for $160K. The boat looks like new and there is no signs of any damage or issues. The Engines have 340 Hrs and but the port engine was rebuilt by the dealer. Do you thinks this is a good price for the boat?

Yep. Price sounds really good. I just purchased a 2013 venture for 180.
But you still need a survey.
Let me know how it goes!

Mike,

Thanks for the feedback. I am planning to get a survey done just to be sure.

How do you like it so far? I am planning to use it on the west coast? Do you think 37' boat for a newbie boater will be too much to handle? I am planning to get some hands on training for docking to make sure I can get used to it.

I bought mine with a newbie partner. it is a lot of boat. however, invite a "seasoned" friend along for your first couple outings so he can be there. luckily the learning curve is steep when it comes to boating so you will be able to handle her with only a few lessons. and I absolutely love the boat!!!
most important lesson you can learn is "go slow"!!!! even if you hit things-- no one or nothing gets hurt if you hit it at 1 mph. add 19 to that and 20 mph could cause lots of damage. add 39 to it and could lead to catastrophic. so-- slow, slow, slow.
