Official 380 Thread

I purchased my 2003 380da back in September. It came with all the manuals of the boat. My boat is currently shrink wrapped. If you do not need it immediately, I will work on getting it copied and the send it to you. It is a 2001 owners manual.

Well I don't want you to run right over there. I will happily compensate you for your time and the coping!

Evening,

My Wife and I are shopping for a 380 with CATS in the 2002-2004 range. Right now being Winter, pickings are slim. Question, on average how much is a 1000 hour PM? Also, when does the next major PM occur?

If anyone knows of such a Sea Ray coming on the Market this Spring, please PM me if possible. Thanks Dennis

If I was determined to get diesels, I would also check in the 400/410/420 listings. Unless there is a reason for limiting to a 380 (beam or length can only be s to fit in slip)

I did see a couple diesels this morning on a website for sale. I will check in the morning, it’s an off site, not Boat trader....

Thank you. It's just my Wife and I and we just don't need alot of extra space. And in my opinion, a boat close to 20,000 lbs loaded, really needs the torque of a diesel. If I could find a 340 with CAT's, that would be perfect but that is a no can do. Dennis

I will give you a heads up when I have it in hand. I am going to see what Staples will do/ charge to copy it.

Have you drove a 380 with gassers? It’s fine, plenty of power imo.

a 340 is a nightmare with the big blocks to work on, can’t imagine if it was physically possible to fit diesels in a 2000 era model....

If you haven’t been at the helm of a 380, especially with the 8.1’s, you need to. My friends all were surprised with my 7.4 horizons power and speed to get in plane

100%. The 8.1s are great. Easily handle all 20,000 lbs + full tanks.

I can appreciate the diesels, but may be harder to find. I have 8.1’s and they pull just fine.

Thanks for your reply. I'm set on diesels. Longevity and cost to run are what I'm looking for. And, when I sell it down the road, resale value will be higher. My 7.3 Ford Diesel is at 310,000 miles and prrnn like a Kitten.

Man alive...I thought only us 400 gasser owners had to defend ourselves against the diesel crowd. Now even the 380's!!! What is this world coming to.

I like diesel too, but sometimes it’s not the right fit. No diesel on my lake, i am not trucking it in. The availability is so low, generally, that the cost is as much as larger boats.

Here is the page i spoke about, i believe there was 2 diesel 380's yesterday

Awesome. Thank you. These are on BT also. I do like the one in Baltimore. It's probably put away for the Winter though. Thanks again. Dennis

@Chris-380 your interior looks awesome, you talked me into the two tone. I ended up with white and gray. Here is a sneak peak, ill post all when its done.

What is the best brand/type of bottom paint that I can purchase? Looking to have my 380DA bottom painted soon. The boat is fresh water, and has a “barrier coating” under the bottom paint. The bottom was painted approximately 5 years ago. When we transported the boat this summer, there were no blisters, but it was recommended that we repaint and replace all the anodes.
I used sea hawk recommended by my neighbor that runs a boat collision shop. STINKY but goes on smooth!

Do you think you could have fit three of the 7" Axioms? Doing two as part of the redesign.
It depends where. the Dash is different between the two models, however, I have one in the center behind the steering wheel and a 12 inch in the many mfd panel. I would imagine you can get two 7s where the 12 inch would be. you can download the paper template cut out three and move them around. Good luck!
