Official 380 Thread

If you were close to me, i would give you a ride for free, we have 2-340's and 2-380's on our dock

I started out looking for 340's, then when i went to look at one, i had to walk by a 380 to look at it. SOLD!

If you can afford the extra 25k or so def worth it.
Separate shower, extra room in the engine room, wider walk to the foredeck... salon is very spacious, larger fridge/freezer...
Thanks.... I agree the 25K is the issue of course
this hiccup in our economy hasn't helped

13’, the ones I looked at are 1999-2002ish.... they are 11’5”....

I just can’t get into the 3 individual seats in the 2003ish and newer

I have been back and forth on 340/380, of course money, operating etc comes into play
But I would love a test run/trial/ boat ride if that is even possible, of course I would pay for costs of the favor... any suggestions or ideas

Thanks in advance
I am in North Ft Myers but will travel within reason.
I started out looking at 320's last year and we quickly decided on the 340's but then found our 360 advertised on Craigslist 15 minutes away from our house. We did get to go out on a 340 prior to finding the 360 and we found that the 360 had a smoother albeit slower cruise and the while it does not have a separate shower it does have a semi-enclosed shower which is better than a totally wet head. Our boat has a 12.5' beam which gives us a little more room than the 340. I moved up from a 27 center console and was too nervous to consider the 380's but in retrospect the separate shower, wider beam and full size fridge would have been a plus. There are not many 360's but it might be a good compromise for you.

Separate shower is really nice. After years of dealing with a wet head that she hated, it was a must have for my wife when we were looking to move up. I was only concerned with it to keep her happy. The wet head never really bothered me.
But once we got the boat and I used the shower, it quickly became my favorite creature comfort.

We haven't been on the boat overnight yet but a separate shower would be nice. It would also be nice to have more water in the bay. Have you noticed how shallow it's been at low tide?

performance numbers?

My 2006 38 has a separate shower and also the triple hull windows for more light downstairs, which are both nice to have.

One look at the cramped bilge of a 340, small hull windows as well as no separation of the salon from the main bedroom made it an easy decision for me against a 340.

Yes! It’s always shallow early in the season, but this year it seems like it’s lasting longer.
I keep my fingers crossed very time I go through the Amityville Cut. Especially at the north end.
The wind has been coming out of the East a lot lately too which is kind of weird.
Pandemic, Murder Hornets, Florida Strength Rain, Crazy Winds, Snow Flurries in May, it was 34 degrees outside early one morning last week when I went out to get coffee, just waiting to see what the hell else are they going to throw at us this year.

It does seem like we’re going through more than share of weird stuff this year. I’m just more conscious of the low water this year in the 360 as opposed to my outboard Grady. Same for my on Amityville and also the south sided of Lindenhurst. Stay safe!

Agree! Hate the 3 seats, seems like a waste of space.

I wish there was a way to custom build a used boat with all the best parts of all the models like you can with houses lol

Going to look at a 2000 380 tonight. Only concern I have for our family is the draft, the spec sheet on searay.com lists it at 44", but the 1999 is listed at only 32", and then the 2001 and 2002 are listed at 40" lol.

We have 4 boys age 5-9, and a big part of our use is anchoring in shallow water, swimming/rafting, etc. Anyone have any advice, or have any issues getting into water with friends that have 300/320/340/360s?

Anyone here on Lake St. Clair that goes to Muscamoot Bay, Poor Mans, Munchies, etc?

I'd personally start shopping for dinghy's if shallow water hanging out is your thing. With wind changes, currents, etc the 380 should be parked safely out in deep water. If you're worried about 8" of additional draft you're already way beyond most peoples comfort limits with minimum depth below the boat :)

I'm on edge when I only have 4' below the boat...

Thats how i am, if i get to 10' deep, i am nervous....

Yup, 9 or 10 ft and I am nervous too. We have some shifting sand bars in the channel in La Conner, WA. I added a redundant depth transducer when I upgraded the chartplotters. We will not try to get out in the channel during the minus tides.

We are usually in very calm water, very sandy bottoms. Drop the anchor and 20-30' of line, walk the boat back into the shallow water, throw a small stern anchor off the back to keep it in place. I was in some crazy shallow water with my 290 last year (outdrives up) and realize those days are long gone. If I could get into 48" of water I'd be happy knowing I've got 8" of clearance, that my 9 year old can touch easy and my 7yo (52" tall) could touch enough to be safer than he would in 5 or 6 ft of water. They are both good swimmers, and of course we don't leave them unattended, but I'm a nervous nelly nonetheless and that peace of mind helps. Plus I'd like to raft with our friends who have 320s and 340s one day soon!
